Mr. Colton, the alcade or Mon terey, states that the gold is found in the sands in grains resembling squirrel shot, flattened out. Some grains weigh an ounce each. It is got by washing out the sand in ally vessel, front a tea saucer to a warm ing pan. A single person can gather an ounce or two a day, and some even a hun dred dollars' worth.
