Thk Court advertisements will be eeea in

A fkw bnhe!s of Apple?, turnips and po

' The Editor of the Republican ha our
thanks for the use of his type as eel up . in
the Agricultural Premium List.
Ocr young Democratic friend, Wklliko
ton H. Est, Esq of ih is place, in compa
ny with Dr. Harry Haiks, of Wiikesbarre,
will address a political gathering in Fair
mount township, Luzerne county, on Satur
day next.
roLrncAL Discussion C. B. Brockwy,
Democrat, and Michael Whitmover, Re
publican, will pnblicly discus the various
political issues of the day, on Monday eve
ring, the 6th of November, at Thomas'
School House, Franklin township, Colum
bia county. The public generally are invi
ted" to be present. -
Mr. Davis, our townsman and neighbor,
who deals in fruit trees of various descrip
tion, will please accept our thanks for that
fine appl presented us a few days since
We failed to get its dimensions, weight &c
Ii was a large and most excellent one.
Our defeat in Pennsylvania has had one
good effect. It has given new energy to the
conservative movement ir. New York.
Should we carry New York, Lincoln may
"hang his harp on the willows" and all
the indications are encouraging.
'' Mr. Elias-Deittekkx has retired from
the office of Commissioner, having served
faithfully his term of three years. He has
made a good officer, and against whose of
ficial business not a murmur is heard. His
successor ha9 already taken the oath of of
fice. ' .
Flag-sios c Paviment We observed a
few days since that our Episcopal friends
were laying a splendid f.a-itone pavement,
leading from Iron Street to their Church.
It bid fair to be a very creditable piece of im -provement,
and was being executed by our
townsmen, Messrs. B. F. Habtman and Wm.
licFEBT.
New Commissioner On last Saturday
Mr. William Lamos, the newly elected
County Commissioner, took his oath of of
fice, and bis place as one of the Board He
comes in tmder favorable auspices, and is
A roan sf careful and prudent business hab
its, so that the public can have every confi
dence in the management of the Ceunty af
fair. The board consists of three io num
ber, Miller, Patton and Lamojt.
Hat aso Cap Store. The new hat and
cap'etore, in this place, has changed hands,
s will be seen by advertisement in another
column of our paper. Oar townsman, Mr.
John K. Girton, is the succeor of S. B.
Anetcai. The late proprietor has opened
with a aew and select stock of hats and
caps, consisting of the very latest fashions,
which he will sell cheap for cash. Al this
store is the place beyond a doubt to buy
a handsome and cheap hat or cap of any
description. Give him a trial.
Discrssiot. In Light Street, on Saturday
evening last, the subject, "Is the Republi
can party a better tariff party thin tho Dem
ocratic party ?" was freely, socially and
ably discussed, by W. Wirt, Esq , of this
place, and Mr. Martz, of Light Street, the
former taking the negative and the latter
the affirmative. The discussion was held
before a Debating Clcb of that place, which
is composed chiefly of Republicans. Our
townsman was treated with a great deal of
courtesy, and the discussion passed off very
amicably.
New Stock of Goods. Among the many
different things that appear in our pa-er to
Ast will be found the advertisement of
Martz Eht's New Fail and Wm'er Gwds,
which are offered for sale at Light Street.
They have a large and varied assortment
of merchandise and are prepared, in, spite
of the closeness of the cash, to sell a cheap
as can be purchased anywhere in this sec
tion of country.
"Cocrtino the Chickens," &c. We over
beard a party of Black Republicans fixing up
things, la other day, in the event cl Lin
coln'; election. They seemed sorcewhat
befuddled as to what they should da with
the host of aspirants for the Post Office.
JSo many are the candidates, and with snch
energy do they urge their respective claims
that we shall probably see a "mass! in the
camp befora long. Gentlemen, keep cool

HOLLOWAY'S OINTMENT.
BAD LEGS. BAD BRF.TS, SORES
AND ULCERS.
All rlpscriplion of sore are remediable
by ihe proper and diligent use of this ines

bad leg by plasterins the edge of the
wound lowlier is a folly j for should th
skin unite, a bo2y diseased condition re

fury in a lew days. The only rational and
auecessful treatment, as indicated br nature,,
is lo reduce the tnflamaiion in and about
the wound and tc sorrhe the neighboring
part4 by rubbing in plenty of ihe Ointment. .
as falt is forced into meat.
DIPTHERIA. ULCERATED SORE
THROAT, AND SCARLET AND
OTHER FEYERS.
Any of the above diseases may be cured
by well rubbing the Ointment three lime
a day into the chei, throat and ueck of the
patient ; it will soon penetrate, and give
immediate relief. Medicine taken by the
mouth must operate upon the whole sys
tem ere i s influence can be fell in any lo
cal part, whereas the O ntment will do its
work at once. hoever tries ;te unsmenl
in the above manner ot the disease named,
or any similar disorders affecting the ctiest
and throat, will Jn.a themselves relieved as.
by a charm.
TILES, FISTULAS, STRICTURES.
The above rlaf of complaints will be
removed by nightly fomenting the part
wiih warm water, and then by most effect
ually rubbing in tha Ointment. Person
offering from these d.treful complaints
should lose not a moment in arresting their
progress Ii should be understood lhat it
is not sufficient merely to srnear the Oint
ment on ihe affected parts, but it must ba
well rubbed in tor some considerable time
two or three time a,dayt that it may be
taken into ihe system, whence it will re
move any hidden sore or wound as effect
ually as though palpable to ihe eye. There
azain bread and water poultices, after rub
bing in of the Ointment, will do great ser
vice. This is the only sure treatment for
females, cases ot cancer in the stomach, or
where ihere may be a general bearing
down.
INDISCRETIONS OF YOUTH ; SORES
AND ULCERS.
Blotches, a also swellings, uto, with
certainty, be radically cured if the Oint
ment be used Ireely, and Pilhj be taken
ni:tit and morning as recommended in the
printed instructions. When treated in any
oher way they only dry up in one placo
to break out in anoiber ; whereas this Oint
ment will remove the humor from the sys
tem, and leave the patient a vigorous and
healthy being. It will require time with
the use of the Pills to ensure a lasting cure
DROPSICAL SWELLINGS, PARALYSIS
AND SI IFF JOINTS.
A!thru2h the above complaints differ
widely in their origin and nature, yet they
all require locsl treatment. Many of the
worst cases, of p nch diseases, will yield in
a comparatively short Fpace of lime wh'ti
this Ointment is diligently rubbed into the
parts affected, even alter every other means,
