(FOR THE LAUNDRY'.) 3 TTAS established a ureaier celebrity than has ever been obtained by any otltei Starch. This lias been the result of its marked su periority in quality, and its invariable uni formity. The public may be aatttred of the continu ance ol the It git standard now established. The production is over Twenty Pons daily, anil the demand lias extruded throughout the whole of the United Stales, and to foreign countries. YVoiking thus on a very latge scale, and tinder a rigid system, they are able to secure a perfect and uniformity in the quality through out the year. This is '.he great Desideratum in Starch-making, aud is realized now for the first lime. The very best starch Dial can be made, and no other, is always wai ted by consumers, and while this will be supplied to them by the grocer", as soon as their customers have learned which is the best, and ask for it— otherwise they would be likely to gel thai article otl which the largest profit can be made. Mr. Kingsford has been engaged in the manufacture of starch continuously for the laat 27 years, and during ihe w hole of the period, the starch made under Ins supervis ion lias been, I evonil any question, the best in the market. For the first 17 years, he hud the charge of the works ol YVm. Colgate & Co., at which period he invented the process : of Ihe manufacture of corn starch. Secret dis ease! are the grettest enemies to health, as ihey are the first csuee of Consumption, Scrof ula and many other diseases, and should be a terror to the human family- Aa a permanent cure is acurcely ever effected, a majority of Ihe cases falling into the hands of incompe tent ptrsona, who not only fail to cure the diieases but ruin the constitution, filling the system with mercury, which, with the disease, hastens the sufferer into a rapid consumption. IMPORTANT DISCOVERT. CONSUMPTION, AND ALL DISEASES OF THE J.UNGS And THOATTate poailively curable by in halation, which conveya the remedies to the cavities in the lungs through the air pas sages, and coining in direct contact with the disease, neutralizes Ihe tubercular matter, allays the congh, causes a free ami easy ex pecto-alion, heals the lungs, pur fies the blood, imparts renewed vitality to the nervous sys tem, giving that tone and energy so indis pensable lor the restoration of health. To be able to stale confidently mat Consumption is curable by inhalation, is to rne a source of unalloyed pleasure. It is as much under the control ol medical treatment as at./ Jther formidable disease; ninety out of every hun dred cases can be cured ill the first stages, and fifty per cent, in ll.e scoot.d; bul in the third stage it is impossible lo save more than five per cent., for the lung* are so cut up by the disease us to bid defiance to medical skill. Even, however, in the last stages, in halation affords extraordinary relief to the suffering attending this fearful econrge, which ! annually destroys ninety five thousand per sons in tbe United Slates alone; and a correct calculation shows that out of the present pop ulation of lite earth, eighty millions are des tined to fill the consumptive'* grave. Truly the quiver of death has no arrow so fatal as Consumption. In all ages il has been the great enemy of life, for it spares neither age nor hut sweeps off alike the brave, the beuiinlul, the graceful, and the gifted.— By the help of that Supreme Being, from whom corneth every good and perlecl gift, I atn enabled to ofler to Ihe ofilnted a perma nent aril speedy cure in Consumption. The first cause of tubercles is from impure blood, and the immediate effect, produced by their deposition in the lung", is to prevent the free admission of air into the air cells, which causes a weakened vitality through Ihe entire system. Then surely it is more rational to exptot grea'er good from ir.edi cines entering the cavities of the lungs than from those administered through the stom ach; the puiieut will always find the lungs free aud the breathing easy after inhaling remedies. Thus, inhalation, is a local remedy, nevertheless il arts constitutionally, and Willi more power and certainly than rem edies adiiiiiit-lered by lite stomach. To prove the powetlul and direct influence ol litis mode of administration, chloroform inhaled w ill entirely tlesiroy sensibility in n tew mm it'es, paralyzing the entire nervous system, so that a limb may be amputated without the s'lghlest pain; inhaling the ordinary burning gas will destiny life in a few hours. The inhalation of ammonia will rnnse the system when fainting or apparently dead.— The odor of many oi the medicines is per ceptible in the skin a few minute- after being inhaled, and may be immediately detected in the blood. A convincing proof of the constitutional effects of inhalation, is the fact thai sickness is always produced by breath ing foul air. Is riot this positive evidence that proper remedies, carefully prepared and judiciously administered through the lungs, j should produce the most happy results? Du- j ring eighteen years' practice, many thous- j anils, suffering from diseases of the lungs ! at.d throat, have been under my care, and I ; have atfecled many remarkable cures, even ! alter the sufferers bad been pronounced in j the last stages, which fully satisfies me thai consumption is no longer a fatal disease.— My treatment of consumption is original, ami j founded oil long experience and a thorough j investigation. My perlecl acquaintance with | the nature of tubercles, &e , enables me to ! distinguish readily the various forms of dis- I ease that simulate consumption, and apply the proper remedies rarely being mistaken even in a single ease. This familiarity in connection with certain pathological and mi ctoscopic discoveries, enables mo to relieve j the lungs from the effects of contracted chests; i to enlarge the chest, purity the blood, impart to it renewed vitality, giving energy and tone i to the entire system. Medicines with full directions sent loony i pad of the United States and' Canada* by i | patients communicating their symptoms by j I letter. The undersigned, members of the Commit tee, do respectfully report, that we saw the two Safes originally agreed cpon by Parrels & Herring ami Evans & Waleon, placed side by side in a furnace, viz: The Sale in use by the Paymaster of the Philadelphia and Head ing Railroad Company, in his office at Read ing, manufactured by Farrels & Herring, and the Safe in use by H. A. l.anlz, in his store, manufactured by Evans & Watson, and put in bonks and papers precisely alike. I'he fire was started at 84 o'clock, A. M., and kept ur> until four cords of green hickory, two cords dry oak and half chestnut top wood were entirely consumed, the whole under the superintendence of the subscribers, mem bers nl the Committee. The Safes were then cooled off with water, after which they were opened, agil the bonks and papers taken out by the Committee and sent to H. A. Larrz's store for public examination, after they were first examined and marked by the Commit tee. The bonks and papers taken from the Safe manufactured by Evans & Watson were bnt slightly affected by the intense heat, while those taken from the Safe manufac tured by Parrels & Herring were, in our judg ment, damaged fully fifteen per cent, more than those taken from Evans & Watson's Safe. THE recent trials at Read ing have endorsed the cur rent of public opinion, and confirmed the verdict of more than 200 acci dental fires, proving conclusively that "Her- I ring's" is the only safe that will not burn. ( Extract from the Committee's Report on the Trial of Iron Safes at Reading: "On the 26th of February all the members of the Committee met to witness the Safes and books and papers, (placed in them; and were perlectly satisfied lhat all was right.— lite day following, the burning took place, under the superintendence of the Commmee. After a fair and impartial burning for fivn hours, the Safe of Messrs. Evans & Watson was first opened, the Safe being on fits in -1 side, and the contents partially consumed, | while ihe contents in the Sale of Messrs. | Farrels & Herring were in good condition, i and no fire inside."
