CONSUMPTION, AND ALL .DISEASES OF THE LUNGS aid THTOAT ate positively curable by inhalation, which conveys (he remedies to (be cavities in the lungs throcyb the air pas sages, and coining in direct cootoct with the disease, neutralizes the tubercular natter, allays the cough, causes a free and easy ex pcotorstion, heals the lungs, purifies the blood, imparts renewed vitality to the nervous sys tem, giving that tone and energy so indis pensable lor the restorative of health. To be able to state confidently that Consumption is curable by inhalation, is to me n source of unalloyed pleasure. It it as much under the control of medical treatment as any oilier formidable disease; ninety out of every hun dred cases can be cured in the first stages, and fifty per cent, in the second; but in the third stage it is impossible to save more than five per cent., for the luces are so cut up by the disease as to bid defiance to medical akill. Even, however, in the last stages, in halation affords extraordinary relief to (he suffering attending this fearful scourge, which annually destroys ninety five thousand (>er eons in the United States alone; and a correct calculation shows that out ol the present pop ulation of the earth, eighty millions ure des tined to fill the consumptive's grave Truly the quiver of death has no arrow so fatal as Consumption. In all ages it has been the great enemy of life, for it spares neither age nor sex, but sweeps off alike the brave, the beautiful, the graceful, and the gifted.— By the help of that Supreme Being, from whom cometh every good and perfect gift, I am enabled to ofier to the afflcled 0 perma nent and speedy cure in Consumption. The first cause of tubercles is from impure blood, and the immedio'e effect, produced by (heir disposition in the lungs, is to prevent the free admission of air ioto the air cells, which causes a weakened vitality through the entire system. Then surely it is more rational to expect grester good f rom ttedi; cines entering the cavities of the lungs than from those administered through the s;oin ach; the patient will always find the luHgs free and the breathing easy alter inhaling remedies. True, inhalation is a local remedy nevertheless it acts constitutionally, and with more power and certainty than rem edies administered by the stomach. To prove the powertul ami diieet influence ol this 1 mode of administration, chlorolorm inhaled will entirely destroy sensibility in s lew min- j utee, paralyzing the entire nervous system, so that a limb may be amputated without the t'lgbtest pain; inhaling the ordinary burning gas will destroy lite in a tew hours. The inhalation of ammonia will rouse the system when faiuting or apparently dead The odor of many ol the medicines is per ceptible in the skin a lew minutes after being inhaled, and may be immediately detected ' in the blood. A convincing proof of the i constitutional effects ol inhalation, is the fnc. j that sickness is always produced by breath ing foul air. Is not this positive evidence that proper remedies, carefully prepared and judiciously administered thiough ihe lungs, should producalhe most happy results? Du ring eighteen years' practice, many thous ands, suffering fro.ll diseases of the lungs nnd throat, have been under my care, ami I have affected mnny remnrkab'e cures, even alter the sufferers had been pronounced in the last stsges, which fully satisfies me that consumption is no longer s lata! disease.— My treatment of consumption is original, ami | founded on long experience and u ihorongn ; investigation. My pertect acquaintance with : (he nature of tubercles, &e , enables me to j distinguish readily the various forms of dls | ease that simulate consumption, and apply 1 the proper remedies rarely being mistaken i even in a single case. This lamiliariiy in I connection with certain pathological and mi- j ctoscopic discoveries, enables me to relieve j the lungs from the effects of contracted chests; j to enlarge the chest, purity 'lie blood, impart 1 to it renewed vitality, giving energy and tore j to Ihe entire system. i Box 63, Post Office. May ?S, 1867 I TONICS WON'T DO. rpHEY never did do more than give tempo l rary relief and they never will. It is be e f cause they don't touch the came of the die- L ease. The cause of all ague and billions die- I eases is the atmospherio poison called Mias : ina or Malaria. Neutralize this poison by its 1, NATURAL ANTIDOTE. '' and all diseases caused by it disappears at * once. Rhodes' Fever and Ague Cure is this Antidote to Malaria, am. 1 moreover it is a I perfectly harmless medicine. The certificate of the celebrated chemist, J. R. Chilton, Ol ! New York, to this effect, is attached to every bottle; therefore if it does no good it cat do no harm. | This is more than can be said of Quinine, [ Arsenic, or any tonic in existence, as their * use is ruinous to the constitution and brings ' on DUMB AGUE, which never allows a per son to feel perlectly well lor a single moment. ' In illustration ol these truths I annex some extracts from a letter just received from a 1 Physician: • Georgetown, Ohio, March 17, '56. 1 JAS. A. RHODES, Esq.—Dear Sir: Yours of 2d inst. is at hand. The Cure arrived late last year and the difficulty in getting any nun 10 try it was greatly increased from the fact that a remedy had been introduced which was growing in favor with (he public, as be ing better than using Quinine, —not knowing I presume that the remedy they needed to escape taking Quinine, contained the DRUG ITSELF! This remedy, (known a "Smith's Tonic,") would invariably BREAK an ague, but it did not CURE it, and it would often return with renewed vigor. The one circumstance 1 deemed in your favor, if I could institute a test comparison between it and your CURE, i'he following is the result: Three persons look your "Cure," all of 1 which were coses of "Quotidian Intermit- j tent Fever," of many weeks standing. They 1 had fried Quinine, ami other remedies, occn- j siouaHy missing a chill, but it was, (as in all | such cuses,i slowly wearfbg them out, and 1 laying ihe foundation of other and severer j maladies. I did succeed in effecting a radi cal cute of all three of these cases with your remedy, and they have not had a chill since. In all three of these cases the "Smith's Ton ic" had been used, and would, as before sta ted, break the chill, but after a period or two had elapsed it wnuld return. I think there will be no difficulty now in giving to your "Cure" the vantage ground ol any oilier remedy now in use here. &c. &c. WILLIAM BUCKNKIi, M. I). . RHODES' FEVER and AGUE CURE, or Antidote to Miliaria, the only harmless reme dy 111 existence, is equal'y certain as a PKF.- VENfIVE, as a "CURE." Take it when you leel the chill coming on, and you will never have a single one JAMES A. RHODES, Proprietor. Providence, R. I. For sale by Druggists generally. June 18, 1856. PHILADELPHIA MEDICAL HOUSE— Established 20 years ago by Dr. XINKKLIN, corner of Third and Union streets, bet ween Spruce and Pine, Philadelphia, Pa. INVALIDS Are apprised that Dr. KINKELIN confines his practice to a particular branch of medi cine, which engagps his individual attention. He cautions the unlortunate against the a buse of mercury; thousands are annually mercurialized out of life. Recent affections lure ptomptly extinguished. TWENTY YEARS'EXPERIENCE In the treatment of a class of diseases hith erto neglected and imperfectly understood, litis enabled Dr. KiNKELIN, Author of a work on Self Preservation, to prove hat nine tenths of the causes of nervous debility, lo cal and constitutional weakness, mental and physical Buffering, are traceable to certain habits, forming the most secret yet deadly and fatal springs of domestic misery and premature mortality. TAKE PARTICULAR NOTICE. There is an evil habit sometimes indulged in by boys, in solitude, and which, if uot're formed in due (tine, not only begets serious obstacles to matrimonial happiness, but gives rise to a series of protracted, insidious, and devastating afilioiiona. Few ol those who give way to this pernicious practice are a ware ol the consequences, until they find the nervous system shattered, feel strange and unaccountable feelings, and vague fears ill the mind. The unfortunate thus affected becomes fee ble, is unable to labor with accustomed vig or, or to apply his mind to study; his stepTs tardy and weak, he is dull, irresolute, and engages in bis sport with less energy than usual. If he emnncqato himself before the prac tice has done its worst, and enter matrimony, his martiage is unfruitfnl, and his sense tells him that this is caused by his early follies. These are considerations which should awa ken the attention of those similarly situated. MARRIAGE Requires the fulfillment of several conditions ill order that it may be really the cause of mutual happiness. Could the veil which covers the origin of domestic wretchedness be raised, and its true source in every in stance disclosed—in how many could it t>e traced to physical disqualifications and ihuir attendant disappointments! Apply then while it is yet time, in order to have your unstrung and relaxed organization rebraced, revivified and strengthened. REMEMBER. He who places himself under Dr. Kinkelin's treatment may religiously confide in his hon or as a genieman, and rely upon the assur ance, that the secrets of Dr. K's patients will never be disclosed. Young man—let no lalse modesty deter you from making your case Known to one who, from education and respectability, can befriend you. Too many think they will conceal the se cret in their own hearts, and cure thernse Ives Alas! how often Is this a fatal delusion, and how many a promising young man, who might have been an ornament to society, has faded from the earth. Strictures of the urethra are rapidly re moved by the application of a new thera peutical agent, used only by Or, K. Weak ness and Constitutional Debility promptly cured, and full vigor restored, "lam a man and deem nothing which relates to man foreign to my feelings." |WMg£pS*aVol TII AND MANHOOD ISiwlUm * L>F E or II Pre mature Vei.th.
