Truly the quiver of death has no arrow so
fatal as Consumption. In ull ages it lias been
lire great enemy' of life, for it spares neither
age nor sex, but sweeps off alike the brave,
the beautiful, the graceful, and the gifted.—

We take pleasure in recommending your
Salamander Sales lo merchants and others
in want of a secure means of preserving
their books, papers, &c., from fire, as the
one we purchased from you about seven
months since has preserved our books, pa
pers, and cash in as good condition as they
wore when put into it, before the great lire
of this morning, tvhich destroyed the entire
block of buildings corner of Chestnut and
Fifth Streets. The above Safe was in use
in our office, on the second floor of our build
ing, from which place it fell into the cellar,
and remained there until the fire was out. —
The sate was then removed, and oppsneil in
the presence ol at least 1000 persons, who
witnessed the good condition ol the contents.
Will you please have the Safe nnd locks re
paired, as we intend to put it in use again,
having perlect confidence in its fire proof
