ANOTHER SUSPENSION IMMINENT.—The Alimeh Chunk Gaulle learns that at a meeting of Lehigh operators, held in Mauch Chunk on Fri day, decided upon a step which will probably lead to a suspension of work for some time to come in the mines of this region. They are to oiler their men a new sliding scale bused upon the price of coal at Mauch Chunk Instead of the prices In New York, and making the wages paid In April last a starting point. Beginning with these, they will allow a certain percentage—ten per cent., we bear itated-Lon all advances in coal beyond V 3.50 per ton at Much Chunk, the April price of coal. It Is hardly to be expected that the miners will agree to this new arrangement, especially those who on their part, have strictly adhered to the basis as agreed upon. But operators say that some of them lost money last mouth, and .that they cannot afford to go on even at present prices. So, deplorable as it is, another suspension is prob ably upon us. AN APOLOGY.—We regret very much to send out our papa., printed as it Is, this week. .Of course it eau be read, but we have so long enjoyed the pleasure of issuing the best printed paper In the Lehigh Valley that we mourn over the loss of that reputation, even for a single itreek. But the fault is not ours. The low water In the Schuyl kill compelled the suspension of work at the Fiat Rock Ills and Messrs. Magarge & Co., were un able to supply us with our regular paper. At last we found ourselves compelled to take whatever came handiest and the slow height from Philadel phia to Allentown brought it to us on Tuesday morning, aceessitating the working off of both sides the same day and without the careful prepa ration to which our paper is usually subjected.
