NEW PROCESS IN PRINTINO BANK NOTES.
—George T. Jones, an engraver of Cincinnati, has
perfected and patented n system of printing bank
notes, which, it is said, defies counterfeiting. Ile
prints on unsized paper, which is well known to
tnko the clearest and. sharpest impressions, and
then proceeds to apply mechanically a sizing per
fected by him, which having been set by sub
jection to a heat of 200 degrees, is henceforth Inso
luble rind Irremovable without destroying the im
pression beneath It, and thus leaving the paper
nearly white and wholly illegible. The colors,
being wisely chosen, cannot be photographed, but
are japanned, as It were, and laugh at the most
Ingenious and S , klilful efforts to transfer, which can
remove only by effacing or destroying them.

OUR NEIGIMORS
—A. recent strike among the laborers on the

went to work the other day, at the old rates of
wages-41.75 per day.

—Easton is just now troubled with a violent
attaek of Sabbath-breaking. We hope the Theo

waited on him to see hint try them on, and see
whether he could see new charms, before un

—All the Colleges are busy just now in di

Allentown has had commencement exercises.
Then nearer home, Lehigh University in Bethle

LaFayette comes later, in July, preparations are
being made to render he next commencement
great success. One cannot avoid the thought that
the Lehigh Valley is to be foremost In the ranks of
Scientific Educational enterprise, when we see that
at Easton, Bethlehem and Allentown we have first
class colleges.
—What is a box ? Th 6 best legal acumen of
Easton bus been pondering the matter during the
Mot week. The Express Co, has erected a—well,
we don't know what to call It—a box or a structure
—and the borough brought salt against the Co.
for obstructing the pai•ements. The town conten
ded that It was a box, therefore an obstruction.
The Co. contended that It was a structure and not
a box because it had no bottom. In order to get
a tine, the Judge decided that It was a box, and
the Express Co. pouted up.
—The question of the day is, shall we cele

The Methodist church, under Rev. Mr. Ridge

second handsomest church In town.
The new Lutheran church is nearly finished and
and looks very well, 'only a little out of proportion,
it Is not deep enough for the frontage, therefore ,
does not correspond. It has n spire at one corner,
surmounted by a cross, and a tower at the other,
very much cut off and having a " chuncity" ap

04 feet and its depths not over 70 feet, which from
the side gives It an undue proportion.
