A few facts upon this point will speak more powerfully than volumes of bare assertion or.blazoning puffery. The consumption of Hostetter's Stomach Bit ters for the last year amounted to over,a half •million buttles, and from its manifest steady increase in times past, it is evident that during the coining year the consumption will reach near one million bottles. This immense amount could never have been sold but for the ihre medicinal properties contained in he prepara tion, and the !auction of the most prominent physicians in those sections or the country where the article is best known, who not only recommend the Bitters to their patients, but are ready at all times to give testimonial's to its efficacy in all cases of stomachic derangements and the diseattes resulting therefrom. . This is not a temporary popnlarity, obtained by extraordinary efforts in the way of. trum peting the qualities or 11.0 Litters. but a. solid estimation of all invaluable medicine, which is destined to be is enduring as tints itself. llostetter's :-.itont.teli Itittms have proved a Godsend to regions IN here NNW and ague and various other Line's eonillaints tom counted thßir victims by htuntreds. Elderly persons may use the Bitters daily as per directions on the bottle, and they will find in it a stimulant peculiarly adapted to comfort declining years, as it is pleasant to the yalate, invigorating to the bowels, &caent as a tonic, and rejuvenating generally. Wo have the evi dence of thousands of aged men and women who have experienced the benefit of using this Preparation while suffering from stomach de rangements and general debility; acting tinder the advice of physicians, they have abandoned all deleterious drugs and fairly tested the merits of this article. A few words to the gentler sex. There aro certain periods when their cares aro so harassing that many of them sink under the trial. The relation of mother and child is so absorbingly tender, that the mother, especially if she be young', is apt to forget her own health in her extreme anxiety for her infant. Should the period of maternity arrive during the summer season, the wear of body and mind is generally aggravated. Here, then, is a necessity for a stimulant to recupe rate the energies of the system, and enable the mother to bear up under her exhausting trials and responsibilities. Wursing mothers gene rally, prefer the Bitters to all other invigora tors that receive the endorsement of physi cians, because it is agreeable to the taste as well as certain to give a permanent increase of bodily strength. All those persons, to whom we have particu larly referred above, to wit : sufferers. from fever and ague, caused by malaria, diarrhea, dysentery, indigestion, loss of appetite, and all diseases or derangements of the' stomach, superannuated invalids, persons of sedentary occupation, and nursing mothers, will consult. their own pliysical welfare by giving to Hos tetter's Celebrated Stomach Bitters a trial. Reliable Testimony IPe call the attention of the reader to the following ' etterfrion President Smith, of Wesleyan University: MIDDLETOWN, Conn., Feb. IMO. SETH W. FOWLE & CO.—Gentlemen : I first made use of the Oxygenated Bitters some seven or eight years since. Having suffered for twenty years from a form of dyspepsia; which was attended with a nervous headache, on . an average of not loss than ono day in a week, I was induced, by the unpretending rec ommendation of Dr. Green, to try ono bottle, and no benefit was received to discontinue the use." The use of one bottle warranted a further trial, to the extent of some three or four, with a: careful observance of the accompanying directions. Tho result was, an almost entire relief from the usual dyspeptic sytnptoma and their depressing, painful consequences. I believe these Bitters produced an entire change in the habits of my system, turd upon the active energies of the digestive organs. I now doom myself as exempt from Dyspepsia as most persons. What ever be its origin, it is hereditary in the con stitution, descending " from parents to children unto the third and fourth generation ;". indeed, it seems to be the rod of him who says,'" I will visit the iniquities of the fathers upon their children." • Its effects commence by deposition from the blood of corrupt or ulcerous matter, which, in the lungs, liver, and internal organs, is termed tubercles ; in the glands,' swellings ; and on the surface, eruptions or sores. This foul eor ruptionovhich genders in the blood, depresses • the energies of life, so that scrofulous constitu tions riot only suffer front serofulous . com plaints, but they have far lest power to with stand the attacks' of other diseases ; conse quently, vast numbers perish by disorders which, although not scrofulous in their nature, A° still rendered fatal by this taint in the system. Most of the consumption which 6de cimates the human family has its origin dire in this scrofulous contamination ; and any destructive diseases of the liver, kidneys, rain ~.- and, indeed, of all the organs, arise fro r are aggravated by the same cause. One quarter of all our people are scrofulous; their persons are invaded by this lurking in fection, and their health is undermined by it. To cleanse it from the system we must renovate the blood by an alterative medicine, and in vigorate 4 by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine we supply in Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla, the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our times can devise for this every where prevailing and fatal malady. It is com bined from the most active remedials that have been discovered for the expurgation of this foul disorder from the blood, .and the rescue of the system from its destructive consequences. Hence it should be employed for the cure of not only scrofula, but also those other affec tions which arise from it, such as Enurrivn and SKIN DISEASES, ST. The popular belief in impurity of the blood" is founded in truth, for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The particular purpose and virtue of this Sarsapa rilla is to purify and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health is impossible in contaminated constitutions. Ayer's Cathartic Pills, FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A FAMILY PHYSIC, are so composed that disease within the range of their action can rarely withstand or evade them ' Their penetrating properties search, and cleanse, and invigorate every portion of the human organ ism, correcting its diseased action; and restoring its healthy vitulities. As a consequence of these properties, the invalid who is bowed down with pain or physical debility is astonished to find his health or energy restored by a remedy at once so simple and inviting. Not only do they cure the every-day complaints of every body, but :also many formidable and dangerous diseases. The agent below named is pleased to furnish gratis my American Ahnanac, containing certificates of their cures and directions for their use in the following complaints: Costive ness, Heartburn, Ile«dache arisinyfrom disordered Stomach, Nausea, Indigestion, Pain in and Morbid Inaction of the Bowels, Flatulency, Loss of Appe tite, Jaundice, and ether kindred complaints, arising from a low state of the body or obstruction of its functions. When once tried, ite superiority over every other medicine of its kind is too apparent to escape observation, and whereits virtues are known, the public no longer hesitate what antidote to employ for the distressing and dangerous affections of the pulmonary organs that ale incident to our climate. While many inferior remedies threat mum the community have failed mid been discarded, this has gained friends by every trial, conferred benefits on the afflicted they can never forget, and pro duced cures too numerous and too remarkable to be forgotten.
