Wnsisms, of the Locidel Cav alry, is in town, having arrived at noon to-day. We have not had the pleasure of seeing the Colonel since his presence in his old home, but we learn that he is in fine health and spirits. Arrouros !—Any members of Company B, Fourth Ward, having in their possession knap sacks, haversacks or canteens, will return the same to Captain Curzen arid save further trouble. By order. DISTURBANON. —There were no disturbances of any consequence at any of the election polls yesterday, as far as we were able to ascertain up to the time of going to press. There were some angry words in consequence of challenges, but they resulted in nothing serious. MCCORMICK. GUARD, EvrrsztrioNt—A meeting of this company will be held at Wagner's Ho tel this (Wednesday) evening, and not this evening, as was announced at the last meeting. Every member is requested to be punctual in attendance. By order. How DID THE CAT JUMP.-000 of the bitter Breokenridgers of the First Ward, who had done all in his power yesterday to bring the Govern ment to disgrace, was met this morning by one of our oldest citizens, with the question, "Well, how did the cat jump yesterday?" meaning, of course, as to the result of the election yester day. Breckenridger was very grum and gloomy, and in hie gruffest voice be replied, that the cat had jumped "into a d—n deep hole." He was right. The cat of locofocoism has descended into a hole from which it will never be res cued. SPIRIT OF THE BREGIONRIDGERB. —The poor, defeated and disgraced leaders of the Brecken ridge clique in this city, are consoling them selves and giving vent to their petty spite, by declaring that they give it up—"the people have been licked," and "we most now all bow to King Lincoln." None but the veriest slaves would use such language. If the Union men had been defeated, they would not have bowed to King Breckenridge. Oh ino i That is not our style. We would have yielded to the Con stitutional majority. Have the dough-faces for gotten their zeal for the Constitution, that they now prate about kings? =I AVu INTBRISTING CIIREMONY Caine off at Camp Simmons last evenhr. After dress parade the cavalry officers in Camp Simmons surprised Capt. Tarbutton by presenting him with a magnificent gold pen, as a mark of their esteem for him as the Commanding Officer of the camp. The presentation was made by Capt. James Gowan. Capt. W. A. Tarbutton's reply was patriotic, graceful and spirited. The press upon our columns, and the excitement consequent upon the election just so gloriously transpired, prevents us from doing justice to the subject. Believe us, however, the occasion was one of interest, and all parties concerned did themselves full credit. M. S. BEATTY', Presakist. E. A. BIOPOP, Secretary. CoommuNioteno.] " THE RESULT." The Patriot and Union men, under the above heading, express themselves as glad that the election is over.. " The Abolitionists," they say, " have probably succeeded. It looks blue for the Democracy. We are sorry. for it. .We con fess we have never seen a darker, hour," &c. No doubt Messrs. Barrett & MacDowell, you have never seen a " darker" hour for von& hellish PARTY projects, but the great masses of the people of all parties see that it is a light hour for the country. A wantons hour I Rebellion and treason are DOOR= to extermination, and as YOUR party designs and personal and politi cal aspirations will naturally be found in the same condemnation, and share the same heaven accursed extermination into outer darkness, the hour will, most probably, be grosring darker and darker to you till the consummation' of the blackness of your political darkness is fully and forever attained . . The treasure and best blood of the country are MEOW to Phis result in a spirit of solemn determinationi as enduring as the throne of heaven's eternal truth, and as invincible as the deep foundations of the everlasting hills. In the bitternesi of your wailing, cry on " Abolitionists," foro would be so unkind as to curtail you of that apparent enjoyment, the term doubtless fur nishes you with associations, correspondent with your feelings—dark, darker, darkest; and while the country is blazing with the light of such patriotic demonstrations as the election of yes terday, it is not in the heart of humanity to kick even the continually growling cur, nor to deprive you of consolations, so Long your most familiar, though murky associations. n a AMONG the facts developed by the inquiries already made by the Military Commission, of which Qen.
