Dr. J. addressee ail those Who havelnjured themselves
by improper indulge. ce and solitary habits, which rein

study, society or marriage.
These are some of the sad and melancholly effects pro

Back and Limbs, Pains In the Head,. Dimness of Sight,
Loss of Muscular Power, Palpitation of - the heart, Dye

to be dreaded—Loss of Memory, Confusion of ideas D

the evils produced.
Tuousasos of persons of all ages can now judge what
is the cause of their declining health, losing their vigor,
becoming weak, pale, nervous and emaciated, luring a
singular appearance about the eyes, cough - and symptoms
of eonstunption.

Marriage,
reflect that a sound mind and boay are the most neces
sary requisites to promote connubial happiness. Indeed,
without these, the journey through life becomes a weary
pilgrimage ; the prospect hourly darkens to the view ;
the mind becomes shadowed with despair and filled with
the melancholly radiation that the happiness of another
becomes blighted with our own. •
When the misguided and imprudent votary of pleasure
Linde that he has imbibed-the seeds of this painful Ma
mie, It too often aspens that an 111-timed sense of shame
or dread of discovery, deters him from applying to those
who, from elucation and respectability, can alone be
friend him, delaying till the constitutional symptoms on
this horr d disease make their appearance,. such as 01
oersted sore throat, diseased nose, nocturnal pain in
the head and limbs, thinness of sight, deadness, nodes on
the shin bones and arms, blotches on the head; face and
extremities, progressing with trightfal rapidity, till. at
last the palate of the month or the bones of the nose fall
in, and the victim of this awful disease become a horrid
object of commiseration, till death puts a period to his
dreadfu I staring; by sending him to " that Undiscov-
Vend Country from whence no traveler returns."
It is a riehuscholty fact that thousands fall victims to
this terrible disease, owing to the unskilfulluess of igno
rant pretenders, who by the use of that Deadly Potion,
mercury, ruin the constitution and make the residue o
life miserable.

secures whatever may be needed, that can he
found upon the shelves.
Could those who have forwarded these gifts
witness the gratitude with which they are re
ceived, and hear the touching expressions that
fall from the lips of these sufferers, they would
feel a thousand times repaid for all the efforts
they have put forth in their behalf.
In addition to the above mentioned assorted
supplies, there are yet on hand several wagon
loads of unopened boxes, which will shortly be
examined and their contents arranged as above.
The perishable portion will be first disposed ef,
and the balance preserved for use during the
winter.
The above room in the house of Dr. Bailey
le also held by the Ladies' Relief Association,
and the articles there deposited are distributed
directly by the ladies during their periodical
visits to the hospitals.
Arrangements were being made for sending
a large portion of these supplies, under the care
of a judicious person, to be distributed among
the farm houses in the vicinity of the late bat
tle field ; but upon careful inquiry, this halt
been found to be unnecessary, as appears front'
the following letter :
Haagasrowa, Sept. 29, 1862.
Dear Brother :—Witen, I sent a recent dis
patch, I thought we needed blankets, ihirte
and drawers, but I have this day visited a num
ber of the hospitals in the farm houses around
the battle field, and learn that the supply of
these articles is ample. Other things are in
abundance. Great quantities of almost every
thing are sent by the various associations in
different states, and from the surrounding
country. Many of us have done bat little since
the battle but minister to the wants of the
wounded, of whom there wore many thousands ;
and many hundreds are yet in the houses, and
taverns, and. sheds: around the scene' oI conflict.
