the seeds of this painful disease It too often happens that
an ill-timed sense of shame or dread of discovery deters
him from applying to those who, from education and re•
epectability can atone befriend him, delaying till the con.
stitutional symptoms of this horrid disease make their
appearance, infecting the head, throat, nose, skin, ex..
progressing on with frightful rapidity, till death puts a
period to his dreadful sullerings by sending him to mtbat
bourne from whence so traveler leturns." It is
ancholy fact that thousands fail victims to this terrible
disease, owing to the unskilfulness of ignorant pretend
ers, who, by the use of that deadly poison, mercury, ruin
the constitution and make the residue of file miserable.
