NEGRO JUSTICE. —A case recentlv oc
curred in a county south of this on a lame
plantation, which illustrates the negro's
idea of justice, and his own views of the
utility of the " black code. " One negro
stole a cow from another and was detected.
The plantation became excited; a mass
meeting was held, and like the Senate
trying Andy Johnson, resolved itself into a
impeachment court—every black son of
an African predetermined on conviction.
The judgement of the tribunal was, that
he be taken hence to convenient place, and
there staked out on the ground bv the
hands uhl feet, and receive one hundred
and filty lashes on h s naked back, well
laid on ; and for satisfaction to the owner
of the cow, it was solemnly adjudged that
he should have a lien upon his crop to be
grown. The main facts are strictly true
and accurately stated.—Meridian ( Miss. )

This great remedy is too well known and is per

into an elaborate discussion of its merits. Suffice it
to say that it still maintains its supremacy in curing
diseases of tbo most obstinate character, and that all
who suffer from the above com; laints, after having
tested this remedy seldom have occasion to resort to
other appliances to insure a perfect restoration to
health.
Testimony of Mr. PETER SHAIV.
West Wmfield, N. Y., Dec- 10, '6O
Messrs P. Fowle A Son, Boston.
Gentlemen—During the winter of 1553 I was very
much out ot h alth, afflicted with a severe Cough,
Pain in the Side and Lungs and a general depres
sion of health to such an extent as greatly to alarm
myself and friends as to the result. During this
time I tried several highly recommended remedies,
with little or no good result, and had concluded to
try the effVct of a Southern climate upon my health:
but, before carrying this resolution into effect, I was
induced by the urgent solicitation of your agent, Mr.
lluntley, to g '.ve Vr Wislar's llalsam of Wild
Cherry a trial I did so, and to my great joy found
immediate and permanent relief by the use of only
one bottle, and I sm now in as good health as ever.
I believe your Balsam one of the best remedies, f..r
Coughs, Colds and fill Lung diseases, now in use,
and conscienti"Usly recommen i if as such.
Yours truly, PETER SHAW.
