SMITH, When evaporated through clean linen it left do o>l or offensive matter. In every respect it is a purs spirituous ligqor. The Oil which gives to this Bran dy its flavor and aroma, is wholly unlike fuiii er grain oil. Its odor partakes of -both the fruit and oil of grapes. With acids, it produces ethers of a high fragrance. , The substitution of this Brandy for Cog nac Brandy will do away with the manufacture o* fictitious spirits, sold under this name both at home and abroad. Respectfully, I have analyzed “L. LYONS' PURE CATAWBA BRANDY/' with reference to its composition ani chararter, being the same as that produced, in past years. A sample taken from ten casks afforded the same results with regard to purity; a slightly m creased amount of the principle on which in flaror depends was determined by comparison with forms: samples. - The indications of analysis show that this Brandy is produced by the same process as moat of the im ported Brandy.
