They are in Heititxelman's.- Corps, and of course have seen some service. Corporal Goodrich has been in eight battles, and has not yet been wounded. McNeil fell while leading a charge =of bis gallant regiment qf Bueklnil Rifles, near Antictam .Creek. : He was * noble nnd bravo officer,'and a son of Archibald McNeil, a Cameronian clergyman, and waa born in Senega County, New York, in 1830. He was educated at Yale College, and entered upon the study of the law in the/office of Clarence W. Soward, at Auburn. In 1857 be commenced, the practice of lawin this city, but was obliged'to abandon his pro fession two years after by reason of ill health. He removed to Warren County,, Pennsylvania, and en .gaged in*banking. In 186(1 be made the tour of that State, stamping for Lincoln and Hamlin. He was an eloquent and effective orator. Upon the breaking ont of the rebellion be enlisted as a private in, a company known a* “ Wild Cats," commanded by Cnpt. Stone; which was afterward in- with the famous Bucktoil Regiment. *ln a short tiine he was chosen first lieutenant and then captain. In this capacity he led the regiment in a magnificent bayonet charge at Dranesvillo. Upon the, resignation of C. J, Biddlo as Colonel of the Buck tails,’Cnpt. McNeil was chosen his successor.
