Tbe officer of tbe day saw them, and tbe sentinel refused to tell who tbby were. Tbe Major ordered him to stan<Lon the head of a barrel for two boars* in the sun, nd his comrades, about twenty in number, rescued h|m from this punishment, hence they were arrested for mutiny. They were then, August 10th, at Burnt Ordinary. Co. A, Ist Rifles, late Capt Holland. We hare beard nothing from this company since our last. Co. E, Ist Regt. Rifles, P. R. C. Capt Niles. The Captain returned homo on a short furlough di> refit-from Richmond, last Thursday. Lieut. Mack, ar rived here, also, on Saturday. They both look as if rebelj>rison diet did not agree Viththem. ' All of tbe company bare been released except Caleb Fenton and John Morgan, and they expected to be exchanged in a week or ten days. They are nojr at Aquia Creek. Co. H, 6th Rogt. Pa. Res. Corps, Capt. Cafle. The health of this company was generally good when loit heard from at Fredericksburg, Va. Benj. Seeley is here recruiting for the company. Job Wet* more, of the 6th Regimental Band, has returned, the band having been munfered out of tbe service. lie thinks of going into the Bucktail Brigade Band. Companies, H, I, and G, 45th Reg’t., Pa. Vols., are at Aquia Creek. We have no later news from them. Major KUboara has resigned on account of continued ill health, and is now at his home in Potter. Co. B, 101»t Reg't, Pa. Vols., Capt. V, A. Elliott. This company has lost, by wounds, disease, Ac., all bat 35 or 40 men. The Captain who has been absent from the company for some time, on account of ill health, returned to duty last Monday. Lieut. Gay* lord has resigned, and is at Mansfield. Lieut. Toting is iMoae on account of partial paralysesof the lov er limbs. Capt Sofield’s company is yet at Camp Curtin, and will probably be there for some time. We paid a short risit to the camp last week, and found the boys of this company, (as well as those of Capts. Phillips, and Hammond’s companies,) alt uniformed, and in good spirits. Three er four eases of sickness bad oe eirred mainly on aeeount of change of water and di et. They hare lots ef fun, and manage to pass the time quite pleasantly. It is easy for men to impro* vise means of amusement. A number of men in So. fold’s company got a man into a blanket and tossed Ihim up in the ain2o or 25 feet, to the great amase ment of all the others. We saw several volunteer to go up—some went up doubled up, some legs first, and sometime down feet foremost. At the same time a prayer meeting was going on in a tent not more than ten rods from the blanket game, and a euchre party was busy not far from the prayer meeting. Such is camp life. Capt. Sofield js proud of his men, as, in deed, they are of him. The men from the Tioga com panics will not suffer in comparison with any compa nies in the camp. The boys received their bounty, and sent home the greater part of it. Companies C, and G, 7th Cavalry. See letter else where. On the 23d of August, Gen. K. W. Johnson of Kentucky,'with 800 Union soldiers, comprising a part of the 2d Indiana Regiment, Wynkoop’s Penn sylvania Regiment, and the- stfa Kentucky Cavalry, under Col. attacked 1,760 guerrillas under Morgan, near Gallalin, and were defeated, with a loss of 300 prisoners, including General Johnson. The remainder of the Union, force escaped and went to Nashville, and it i* quite probable that seme of our boys may bare been taken. Co. L., 2d Regt. Pa. Cavalry, Capt. R. T. Weed, is now with Geo. Banks' Corps. It has be4n engaged for some time in skirmish duty, and was in the en gagement of Cedar Mountain. Captain Thos. B. Bryden’s company is now nearly filled. Wo shall be able to print the rcll by next week. We hare a ludicrous accent of an engagement fit Troy last Friday, which bccured while the company was on its way to Harrisburg, but at it reflects no credit up on'the valor of the Trojans, we forbear to print it,— Captain Brydtn is here recruiting and will join his company to-morrow; with a few more men.; •Deserted.
