The Salamander Fire-Proof Safo of your manufacture, purchased by its from iyonr Agent, Ferris & Garrett, of our city, some nine months ago, was severely tried by burglars last Saturday night, and although they had a sledge hammer, cold chisels, drill, and gunpowder, they did not succeed in opening the Safe. The lock being one of Hall’s Patent Pow der-proof," they could not get the powder into it, but drilled a hole in the lower panel and forced.in a large charge, which was ignited, and although the door, in side and out, showed the explosion not to have been a small one> it-was not forced open.
