Tfreazoa. Arrests are being thickly roads ia K,ans« oT the Free State Officers and Members of the Legislature, upon the charge of Treason! The Democratic Adtnidiairalion at Wash ington stimulates these arrests, and has lent a part of the United States Army to help execute the .writs, .What 1 is Treason 1 The Constitution defines it to be, tbe actual levying of war against the United States, dr adhering to their enemies, and giving theib aid and comfort. Is the adoption by the actual citizens of a Teritory of a Stale Con stitution, a war against the United: States 1 Is (he election ot Slate officers under that Constitution aq. adhering to the enemies of the United States? Is the sitting of the Legislature elected under that Constitution, an act of aid and comfort to the enemies of the republic I Why what ineffable impudence is this ? One of tbe paioftH evidences of the subjuga tion of the Northern virtue and manhood to Slavery, is the audacity which exists in Mis souri, to hold Kansas men to answer this charge of Treason, and the encouragement given to it by Democratic politicians, in and out of office. No charge ever made by knaves upon innocent men, was half as pre posterous as this bold oue of Treason.— There is Treason though and there are Trai tors. There is Treason to Liberty, and Slavery impels it—and there are Traitors to Republican Freedom, and Douglas and Pielce are at their head— Alb. Journal, The Time*. Impending civil war in Kansas—threaten ed war with England—the rule of violence established al the national capital—the roost brilliant of living orators brutally beaten in the Senate chamber—an administration com posed of an imbecile chief and a secretary who plumes himself chiefly upon his dispatch es —fillibusterism rampant, officially recog nized, holding mass-meetings, openly raising money and enlisting men—the party which has all the political talent and moM of the political principle left to us, still far from power—the most virtuous, orderly, and de corous of nations tepresented by ruffians and blackguards—the people indignant, embitter ed, exasperated, and helpless—despots every where exulting—the liberal party throughout the world puzzled and dismayed, beginning to think that, after aff, Democracy may be a Mistake parlies so curiously disarranged that the people may be prevented from say mg in unmistakable language what they think, and what they want —all parties dally ing with the harlot Availability, still repeat ing the fatal maxim, “ Measviet not Men," when all the evil has come from putting a puppet where a Man was wanted. Such are some of the aspects of the times. Whose fault is it 7 Yours, sir, who think it the genteel thing “ to take no part in poli lies," and neither by voice nor vote come to the help of lhe Right I And yours, sir, wlm go n blind for the partv, consenting to be one of a Drove! —Lift Illustrated. Where docs he Stand. We agree with the Agitator in saying “ that every public man has an accredited or gan, and sometimes more than one,” Gov. Pollock belongs to the American Party, and pas taken all its oaths and obligations.— Like the paper we quote from, we have no disposition to deal unjustly or with a feeling e[ disapprobation towards bis Excellency ; bui we'are satisfied that ihefb is something “ rotten in Denmark.” The Republican vote of Pennsylvania was cast almost unanimous tj m his favor, when he was elected, and the American vole also; but when opportunity presented he appointed foreigners to office, thus violating the sacred obligalions I hat he took before Heaven ! From the course of ms organ at Milton, it is evident lhai he is not satisfied with Bartholomew Lapoete, and this organ is sustained by other papers who support Fillmore and Donelson, and refuse to support the whole Union State Ticket, it is true, and we dare proclaim it, that Gov. Pollock’* Administration has less support from the press than any other that has ever preceded him. Out of all our ex changes not one is willing to give him the most feeble notice. If he is determined to support Douglass, Stxing-fbllow and Bor der Ruffianism generally, through his home organ and other presses, let the proclamation be made officially. The people are ready for the issue, —Blair Co. Whig, An Englishman observed a stone.roll down a stair-case.
