The Committee on the conduct of Ora war have resolved to advise the itsniedinte passage of a bill to pun ish with death any person who com mits a fraud upon the Government, •Whereby s soldier is bodily injured, libifor instance in the sale of unsound vvisions. Also, to punish with im . sonment and confiscation of all property and Government dues all contractors who in any way defraud the Government in the. qualities of goods 101.44 Cr ilersidea pretended to ;,IRe rendered to the Government: A CONTRACT TO BE ANNULLED It is understood that the contracts let Out by Secretary Cameron, for :over a million Springfield muskets, : - And over a quarter of a million rifles uud carbines, will be ordered to be annulled by Congress. They will not Itre available in the present war, and Us they are to cost an average of Uevan dollars each above the manu facturer's prices, they involve a loss of Dearly nine million dollars to the IrreOsury. SECRETARY CAMERON'S REPLY General Cameron, in replying to the resolution of the Senate calling for information relative to army con * *acts and payment of troops, says : "I take occasion to state that I my aelf have not made a single contract Ibr any purpose whatever, having al ways interpreted the laws of Con grew as contemplating that the Treads of Bureaus, who are experien aed and able officers of the regular army, shall make all contracts for =Wes for the branches of the ser lace -under their charge respectively." The Anaconda °oils Again. The New York Times publishes, tie from the "highest authority," a ktter dated at Washington, from Which we take the following extract : "I write warmly about Gen. McClel tan, became I know and love the man. Your suggestion to attack Manassas, even at the risk of defeat, on the ground that We had better be beaten than rot to pieces, is not like your usual good sense. Any military man Would tell you that to hurl our for ces against those strong entrench ments would be sheer madness. But Gen. "McClellan has them caught in their own trap. They are like a fox is/ a burrow with one hole, where they must soon be forced out, and then Gen. McClellan will fall upon them like a thunderbolt. The public will not then complain of his want Of energy. I tell you it will be so fearful as to have wailing and mourn ing go up from every Southern house hold-. Knowing what I do, and having thus bat barely hinted at as the grand plan of the campaign, I repeat that the rebels are doomed, and Se cession will never again raise its hy head in the land. The folds of the giant constrictor are now tightening around the rebellion, and the coming month will see it crushed out completelg and forever. Again I say, look out for 'a short war and a desperate one." Another Financial Scheme. The refusal of the Committee of Ways and Means to sanction the fi nancial scheme of Mr. Chase and the Bank Presidents, has led to the pre- Amtation of a new plan, which it is said can pass Congress: 1. An issue of demand notes to meet the wants of the people for cur rency, not to exceed three hundred millions, receivable for Government dues, and convertible into six per cent. bonds. 2. An issue of six per cent. Bonds, payable in twenty years—ail other Bonds convertible into these, so as to have but one form of funded securi ties. -8. A revenue bill to raise by excise and impost duties two hundred mil lions of dollars. 4. Specie to be received by Govern ment on deposit, and certificates is sued therefore, payable at any of the Government depositors in the coun ty. 5. CHAPMAN, HENRY CHAPMAN, January 29, 1862-31. Administrators. ARE you sick, feeble and complaining 1 Are you out of order with your system deranged and your feelings uncomfortable 1 These symptoms are otten the prelude to serious illness. Some fit of sickness is creeping upon you, and should be averted by a timely use of the right remedy. Take Ayer's Pills and cleanse out the disordered humors—purify the blood, and let the fluids move on unobstructed in health again. They stimulate the fhnctions of the body lino vigorous ac tivity, purify the system from the obstructions which take disease. A cold settles somewhere in the body, and obstructs its natural fhnctions. These, if not re lieved, react upon themselves and the surrounding or gans, prodhcing general aggravation, suffering and dis ease. While in this condition, oppressed by the de rangements, take Ayer's Pills, and see how directly they restore the natural action of the system, and with it the buoyant feeling of health again. What is true and so apparent in this trivial and common complaint, is also true in many of the deep-seated and dangerous distempers. The same purgative effect expels them. Caused by similar obstructions and derangements of the natural functions of the body, they are rapidly and Many of them surely cured by the same means. None Who know the virtues of these Pills will neglect to em ploy them when suffering from the disorders they cure, such as Headache. Foul Stomach, Dysentery, Bilious Complaints, Indigestion, Derangement of the Liver, Costiveness or Coastipatioa. As a Dinner Pill they are both agreeable and effectual. ASTANDARD MEDICINE for the speedy, radical and effectual cure oi all diseases arising front IMPURITY OF THE BLOOD This medicine has wrought the most miraculous surer in desperate cases of Scrofula, Cutaneous Diseases, Pimples on the Face, Old stubborn Ulcers, Tetter Affections, Dyspepsia, Jaundice, Mercurial Diseases, Liver Complaint, Low Spirits, FEMALE COMPLAINTS, and all Diseases originating in an Impure state of the Blood. THE ABOVE IS A PORTRAIT OF DAVID M'CRE*RT. sworn statement of David N'Creary, of Napier tp, Bedford county In April, 1856, as near as I can remember, a small. pimple made its appearance on my upper lip, which soon became enlarged and sore. 1 used poultices of sorrel, and a wash of blue vitriol, without effect.— Findin. the sore extending, I called on Dr. rAy, of Schell:burg, who pronounced it CANCER, and pre scribed a wash of sugar of lead and bread poultices. Finding these remedies of no avail, I called upon Dr. Shaffer, of Davidsville, Somerset county, who also pronounced the disease Cancer, and gave me internal and external remedies—the latter consisting principally of caustic; but all to no purpose, as the disease con tinned spreading toward the nose. I next used a prep aration of arsenic, in the form of salve. This for a time checked the disease, but the infatuation soon in fcreased. I called upon Dr. Smiler, of St. Claireiville,„ Bedford county, who also pronounced the disease Can cer, and applied a salve said to be a never failing rem edy, but it had no effect whatever in checking the spread of the sore. In December in the same year, the disease bad eaten away a greater part of my upper lip, and had attacked the nose, when I went to Cincinnati where I consulted Prof R. S. Newton, of the Eclectic Medical College. He pronounced the disease "a cu taneous Cancer, superinduced by an inordinate use of mercury." Ile applied mild zinc ointment, and gave me internal remedies. My face healed up, but the in flammation was not thoroughly removed. In Februasy, 1857, hepronounced me cured, and I left for home. In April the disease again returned, and so violent was the pain that I couin not rest at night. Late in May. returned to Cincinnati, and again placed myself under the charge of Dr. Newton. with whom I remained un til September, during which time he used every known remedy, and partly succeeded in checking the disease, but when 1 returned home there were still three dis charging ulcers upon my face. 1 continued using New ton's preparations, and also medicine that I got from Dr. Ely, but the Cancer continued growing until it had eat off the left side of lay nose, the greater portion of lay left cheek, aad had attacked nay left eye. I had given up all hope of ever being cured, since Dr. Ely said he could only give relief, but that a cure was impossible In March, 1858. I bought a bottle of "Blood Searcher;" but I must confess that I had uo faith in it. I was very weak when I commenced taking it; but I found that" gained strength day by day, and also that Atte ulcer* commenced drying up. I continued, and when the third bottle was taken, my face was healed as if by a miracle. I used the fourth bottle, and I have been healthier since than I have been for the last seven !MM. Although my face is sadly disfigured, I am stilt grateps to a benign Providence who has spared my life, Mid which has been done through the instrumentality ot LINDSEV '8 IMPROVED BLOOD SEARCHER. A BAD SORE LEO CURED.—Pittsburgk, September 18, 1861-1 hereby certify that I have had a sore leg for over a year. It was covered with ulcers and sores BO that I could not work for nearly a year. My leg swell ed so that 1 was unabb't to do anything for a long time,. for at least six months. 1 tried several of the best doc tors in the city, but without any benefit; finally ! called on Dr. Keyser, at No. 140 Wood street, who only at. tended nie about two weeks, and gave me but two boS tles of medicine, and I am entirely well, and have con tinued well for six months. lam employed at the Eagle Engine House on Fourth street, where any one can see lime. THOMAS FARRELL. READ THIS CURE.--1 was afflicted with a horrid di sease in my feet and ankles, so much so that for nil weeks I was confined to my bed, and at other times to my ebair, where I was compelled to sit for weeks. I was in the care of both our eminent physicians for a long time, but they could do nothing to effect a cure or ease my pain. My feet and legs became very much swollen, and having heard of your Blood Searcher (although I had very little faith in it), I was induced by Messrs. Alexander & Son, agents at this place, to try it. Iliad not used one bottle before I began to And immediate relief. I tried another, and am now able to walk about without crutches. I have tried other patent medicines, but received no benefit. I take pleasure in recommending your Blood Searcber above all others, to those who may be afflicts as I Lave been. Yours, truly, PETER RDHIER. APOLLO, Armstrong Co., Pa., Dec. 12, 1859.
