REPUBLICANS SWEEP STUART FOR GOVERNOR BY 100,000 MAJORITY. Pennsylvania rolls up a bundled thous and majority for Stuart, and tbe entire Republican slats ticket is elected by about the same majorities. The congress ional delegation will remain almost as strongly Republican as it wax, or about SO to 2. Mr. Wheeler is elected to Con gress by over 4,000 majority, a splendid endorsement of a most worthy citizen, of whom Forest county Is justly proud. New York elects Hughes, Republican, Governor by 60,000 majority. Massachusetts? elects the Republican Governor by 34,000 majority. ' Every other Republican state in the Union that held Important elections yes terday has stood loyally by President Roosevelt, whose endorsement is com plete and positive. Congress will be safely Republican. FOREST COUNTY RESULTS. Tbe result In Forest county is very disappointing to tbe Republicans on the Assembly vote, Mr. Collins, the Repub lican candidate being apparently defeated by Mr. Shields, Democrat, who has a majority at this writing of 9, with the precincts of Duhriug. in Jenks township, and Guitonville, in Green township, to bear from. These precincts are more apt to increase Shields' lead than diminish it, so that he may have a majority of 15 to 30 votes. Mr Collins was loyally sup ported in this section of the county where he ran well ahead of tbe State ticket, but along Tlonesta creek, where a good vote was looked for, and in tbe eastern end of the oounty Mr. Shields had a landslide. , The vote on tbe balance of the ticket is still incomplete but tbe indications are that Stewart will have Emery down by 250 1 300 majority, while Mr. Wheeler's majority will be something In the nature of tbe phenomenal. Latest The complete vote on Assem bly makes tbe totals, Collins 898, Shields 919, making tbe latters' majority 21. Tbe official returns will not change this re sult materially. PARTIAL RETURNS. Startling Example Showing the Dan jt of Ills Cnlllna. Of nil causes of boiler deterioration, says II. P. The engineer on watch was down in the fire room looking around when loud bang came from one of the boil ers. Instantly divining the cause, he looked quest ion Ingly nt the head watch tender, who replied, "Be Jabers, I hope that ain't next door neighbor to the one that let go on the oilier watch." That startled the engineer, for ho had not been told of the other broken brace, He at once stopped the blowers, open ed the doors, shut the stop valve be tween boilers and put on the feed pumps as rapidly as they could go so us to reduce pressure. The deck de partment was notified that It would be necessary to stop, and they hauled to oue side of the channel and waited for tho coming up of another boat In the same line passed n few miles back, The passengers (there were 1,000 on boanli and mulls were transferred, and the boat returned with the Injured boiler out of business.
