Girls of the Berwick high sctiool took up the antl-clgarette crusade and announced that they would refuse to walk with or talk to a boy who smokes cigar ettes. In this way they are follow ing the example of the high school Elrla at Hazleton, McKeesport and wllkesbarre, whose plan has proved successful. They have found that the boys thus barred from their society soon give tip the habit and have been able to accomplish a great deal ol good. Robbers Seared Off. Punxsutawney, Pa., March 20. An unsuccessful attempt was made by two unknown Italians to rob Rural Mall Carrier W. P. Brady at Highland Park, a densely wooded spot seven miles north of Punxsutawney. The Italians were dragging him toward a thicket, when a street car appeared, bringing assistance, and the car was stopped and the. men fled. Brady, al though beaten about the head and body, was able to drive back to Punx sutawney. No Coffin Nails to Minors. Harrlsburg, Pa., March 20. Gover nor Pennypacker has approved a bill making It a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of from $100 to $300. for any one to give or sell a cigarette or ci garette paper to any person under the age of 21 years. The husband first carried the baby to safety and then rushed back after his wife, whom ha also carried out. Hid In Closet and Evaded Arrest Monongahela, Pa., March 20. Two prisoners broke away from a police man here and ufter being shot at and cbased by 600 people escaped.
