tion be laid on the table. The Rev.

them. The motion was seconded and

Life Imprisonment For Murder.
Ithaca. April 8. James Churchill of
Ithaca, who killed his wife. Minnie,
and bis father-in-law. Daniel Minturu,
at the luiter's home at N'ewfleld last
June, was sentenced to life Imprison
ment nt Auburn. Justice I. yon of the

Ne. England Gas and Col-.e Company
to Ee Reorganized.
Uoston. April 8. Upon application
of the United Gas and Coke company
of Wett Virginia, a heavy creditor,
Robert F. Burnett cf Uoston was ep
polnted receiver for the New England
gas and Coke company by Judge Colt
of the United States Circuit Court.
The move is said to be the fir?t step
toward a reorganization, it Is further
naiel thut the action of the United
Gas and Coke company 1b a friendly
one.
The announcement of the appoint
ment of a receiver was followed at
once by the appearance of circulars
Issued by a committee representing
the first mortgage 5 per cent bond
holders ami the stockholders of the
New England Gas and Coke company
saying that Messrs. Kieiel-r. Peabody
& Company of Iirstcn and J. & V.
Sellgmnn of N"W York were prepar
ing a plan for the reconstruction ar.l
reorganization of the company at the

of the company, which plan they will
