R. M. Herman's injured band is

It is rumored that a large transfer of
lumber territory has recently boen made
in this vicinity, which Includes the saw
mill, railroad and about 4,000 acres of
choice timber lands, the property of R. F.

Monday last the foremen connected with
these various industries were instructed
to notify their employees that on and after
March 1st, 1892, they would be in tho em

documents necessary to make the transfer

Herald,
Since the assault and attempted robbery
of Mr. William Tullock, store keeper and
postmaster at McOraw, about three weeks
ago, there has been some clovej detective
work going on by Mr. Tullock and some
of bis neighbors that has borne good re
sults. The attempted robbery was com
mitted by the three Woodburg brothers.
The chain of evidence against them was
so closely drawn that two suspecting the
result skipped out, while the third Ueorge
Woodburg on Thursday last turned states
evidence and confessed having a hand in
tbe attempted robbery, and said they had
started to rob Mr. Tullock once before,
but had backed out ''oodburg was taken

Pleasantville Record.
Here is another very clear swindle
which is being practiced by sharpers over
the country. A man puts In an appear
ance, seeks the proprietor of the store,
and informs him that he is searching tor
rare coins, passing him a list of specimens
and their alleged value. He also asks the
interested proprietor to keep an eye out,
and should he get hold of any to keep
them for bim. Soon after another party
strolls around, buys a cigar or some other
article, and exhibits a couple of coins
witli the remark that they are pocket
pieces. On consulting his list the pro
prietor finds their value is marked $45
each. Hero he will see an opportunity for
speculation, sud after some dickering the
second party sells him the pieces. Of
course number one never shows up, and
the coins are worth no more than their
faco value. This is now bolng worked all
over the State. Ex.

year ago, when he went to live with
his daughter. A4t hough in rather
poor health for some time past he was
only confined to his bed a few weeks
previous to his death. Mr. Hhultz
