The Republican Conference having ad journed jme dir., without making a nomi nation for the olHco of President Judge of the 87th Judicial District, and having re ceived the nomination of the Rcpulilican party at the primary election in this Coun ty, and believing that Forest County is Entitled to that olllce as of right, I will re main in the Hold as a candidate, and hope to receive the hearty support of the Re publicans of Forest County. Samuel D. Ihwin. To the Voters of the 37th Judicial District i Having received a largo maority of the votes cast for President J udgo at the Re publican Primaries hold May 10th, 1800, I wish to say to the voters of this Judicial District that I am a candidate for the election, and desire your hearty co-operation in the Fall campaign. I shall use every honorable means to aid and serve "ou, and feel confident that we will achieve success. I am, Yours very truly, Geo. II. Hioqins. OUR TICKET. Voters of Forest County, we wish to lay a word to you about the candi date on the Republican ticket, and which you will have a chance to vote for in less than two weeks from this dale. As to the State ticket we wish to be thoroughly understood when we say it embraces the names ot men who, per sonally, are the peers of any of their opponents in this contest, aud politi cally we claim they are far, far in ad vance of all others. In their tour of the State we ask voters to contrast their mauly, honorable discussion of the issues which are now before the American people, with the slanderous, rand slinging campaign waged by the Democrats. It is useless to' go over the field, which has been covered so thoroughly during the past few weeks, and give reasons why Republicans should be Republicans just as much now as in '88, or as they expect to be in '92. We hope no Republican will Jonger try to console himself witb the thought he can bolt the ticket now and make it all right then. Parties are not fostered and kept in that way. Htay by the party. That is the only safe way. Of the President Judgeship it is needless to say much. Unfortunately for the Republican party in this dis trict, there are two candidates iu the field. The Democrats hope to profit by this state of affairs in our ranks, by electing their man. It only remains for the Republicans to see that they do not succeed in their designs. The Republicans can and will win the fight in the face of this apparent split if they falter not. And with this we leave the matter in your lands, willing to bow to the verdict which yoa may render. c. w. CLAR K, the Republican nominee for Associate Judge, is one of the men who never shirks his duty, be it at the front, in the heat of battle for the Uuion, or in a civil office bestowed by bis fellow men. Always the same honest, large hearted man in whatever sphere of life you meet him. As a brave soldier of the late war Capt. Clark honorably wore the Union blue through four years of bloody conflict, and came home with a record for bravery and fidelity to the cause, which in the pride of any true solHier. A man ot ripe year, unbiased mind and honest heart, who will say that he is not just the man for Associate Judge, where per sonal prejudices should never be al lowed to enter? Who knows Capt. Clark intimately that would not will ingly allow him to sit in judgment ou his case, no matter what personal dif ferences bad previously existed be tween them? And that's the kind of a man we want to put on tho bench. Vote for him, and elect a man of hon or and unswerving integrity. for the oliice ot Mate benator we have an exceptionally good candidate m the person ot L. C. BOYD, who comes to us splendidly recoru mended by bis neighbors and those who know him best, as one of the ster ling young men of Clarion county. A man of ability, honor, and of the strictest integrity. Give him your hearty support, notwithstanding we are in a district which is thought to be hopelessly democratic, DR. B. 8. TOWLER is the Republican candidate fur As sembly, and we feel proud to be able to present to the voters of Forest county such ao excellent man for that important place. Dr. iowler is so well and favorably known to the peo pie of this county that anything we might say could scarcely add to the high ettecui iu which he is held by bis fellow men. A true Republican, one whose time and moans have been given for the up building of the party, who has never faltered io his devotion to its principles, who has ever stood shoulder to shoulder with his fellow Republicans in every important fight since his residence in the county, never "sour" nn lite ticket or talking in bis tent when his services were needed, he certainly deserves the heartiest sup port of every true Republican in the county. He is pro eminently the man for the office of Representative, and no man friend or foe will deny his ability to make a member of whom the county may be proud and who will reiiect great credit upon Ins con stituency. His abilities as a speaker are recognized by nil, and we have uo doubt he would immediately forge tn the front as a leader among his rid leagues in tho House. This i one of the most Important oflices to be filled this year. As before Mated, there is a United Slates Senator to elect, the State to be re apportioned into Con gressional districts, and many other milters of vital importance to come before the next legislature. Can Re publicans be indifferent to these mat ters? We think not. With such an exceptionally good candidate to vote for we have no idea that you will waver for a moment, or allow your selves to even think of giving a friend ly or complimentary vote to the oppo sition. Personal friendship is one thing and political duty and fidelity quite another. Let us give Dr. Towler the Republican vote to a roan. When the Democrats are standing firm it becomes us to do the samo. CALVIN H. ARNER, our candidate for Prothonotary, has abundantly proved bis fitness for the position to which be asks a re election. His conduct of the Prolhonotary's office during the past three years has been emiueutly satisfactory to the people of the county, and au examina tion of the records kept by him will convince anyone who wishes to know, that be has performed his duty in a most excellent manner and shown himself more than competent to dis charge the duties of that office. This fact was recognized when, last spring, he was accorded a unanimous re-nomination by the party. His pleasant treatment of those who have bud busi ness to transact there has made him a host of friends in all parties, and tbey will see to it that Cat. is re elected by a bigger majority than before. He will get the full party vote, and many from the opposition, who believe that a faithful officer should be rewarded, will give him their cordial support. Fleet him and be assured that the affairs of that office will receive the same good attention tbey have had in the past, to which will be added the ripe experience be has had in the past three years. JOHN R. OSGOOD, the Republican nominee for Sheriff, is one of the industrious, energetio and wide awake young men of our county whose sterling worth is recognized by all who know him. Born and reared n our county, he has by bis own ef forts and houest toil made himself what be is, a perfect success at what ever he undertakes. From boyhood be has followed lumbering and job bing, and io this capacity has employ ed a great many men, everyone of whom will vouch for him in any par ticular. In our many years' acquain tance with him we have yet to bear the first breath of suspicion uttered against his honor or integrity ; in fact, he is regarded as the soul ot honor by all who know him his word is bis bond every day in the week. Of bis staunch Republicanism there never has been a taint of suspicion. Of his capabilities, the successful conduct of his own business affairs is a guarantee as to that, and that he will make a faithful officer, as ho has always been a citizen, and friend of the laborer, there is neither cavil or doubt. Give John your earnest support; it will be most worthily bestowed. JAMES M'lNTYRE, one of our candidates for County Com missioner, is a man in every way well qualified for the position, and of his popularity as a candidate the large support he got at the primaries speaks louder than woiua. lie is a man of excellent judgment, careful aud con servative in business affairs, prompt and reliable in all his dealings. The success attending the management of his own business matters gives ample assurance that he will be tho right man in the right place. Unfortunate ly for Mr. Mclntyre just at this time be is eutlering from an injury received some time ago by being thrown from a load ot bay, whith may prevent bis going out to make a personal canvass and meet the people, which he would very much like to do, and we hope the voters will bear this in mind, and not allow it to militate agaiust him at the election, but that they will toll up a big vote for a good man to luok after their affairs for the next three vears la common witb his iieiuhhors who know him best we vouch fur James Mclntyre, and recommend him in every particular. C. F. LEDEUUK, the other Republican nominee fur County Commiebiouer, deserves aud should receive a large popular vote of the people, lie is well kuown through out the county, and io all his acquain taocesbip there is nune that nill im pule to him a dishonest motive, or that will say he has a dishonest hair in his head. He has ben a member of the board for three years during which time be has faithfully endeavored to perform every duty devolving upon bim in an honorable aud busiuess like niaouer. There is not that man living ou earth who can serve a term in the office of County Commissioner and en counter no opposition, or escape some censure. Doubtless Mr. Ledebur has, as all past officials have, incurred the displeasure of some, yet bis acts have had the stamp of houesty in them, and 1 it is impossible to make auy fair-mind ed man believe differently. lie is the only one of the old board now before the people for re-eleetioo, and, as every tax-payer knows, it is a good practice to have at least one old head in that office, and that there is danger in putting in an entirely new set of men. Vole for the Republican candi dates for Commissioner and your affairs will be in safe hands for tho next three years. COUNTY AUDITORS. For the office of County Auditors the nominees are T. B. Cobb and Wm. Thomas, both capable, men, and as they havo no opposition will both be elected. The same may be said of our candidate lor JURY COMMISSIONER, J. N. Heath, who will also be elected, there being two to elect. John de serves a pood vole aud will get it. Now, Republicans, this is your tick et. Let us stand by it shoulder tn shoulder. There is no reason why it should not go through with tho usual majority, and the way to put it through is to vote it ' straight, and allow no petty personalities to swerve us from our duty to the cause. Be Republi cans. A soldier who votes for Pattison forgets his comrades and refuses them houorable burial. The Hall Ring aud their satellites are boasting that the haughty Harry Alvan has an easy "walk over" in his race for the State Senate. It is great ly to be hoped that they may keep on entertaining that idea until the votes are counted. Ridgway Advocate. ii The Democratic campaign so far has been one of slander and personal abuse. It will be so to the end. The Democratic parly presents no "issue" this fall. The Republican party, on the contrary, has a well defined policy. The Republican pri ly has just passed a Protcctivo measure known as the McKinley Bill as a part of its policy. It proposes to pass soon another bill which will secure to the poor negroes and poor whites of the South the right of franchise, a right withheld from both classes by au oligarchy made up of "Southern gentlemen, sah." The McKinley Tariff Bill is a clean Re publican measure. Not one Demo crat voted for it. Not one Democrat will vote for the Federal Elections Bill. The Democrats to day io Penn sylvania are so hostile to. the McKin ley Bill that once in power in Congress tbey would repeal the bill. But in this campaign they utterly ignore the fact that Congressmen are to be elect ed. To speak of this fact would in volve them io something else than a campaign of slander and falsehood. They hope to create dissatisfaction and disaffection against the entire ticket through heaping abuse on the head of the ticket. It isn't Delamater they are after nearly so much as the Re publican party of Pennsylvania. WESTERN NEW YORK A. PENN SYLVANIA RAILROAD, formerly B., N. Y. fc P. R. R.
