A Tylersburg correspondent of the Clarion Rep.-Gazette says, "that James Haskell & Co. have purchased an addition of one thousand acres of hemlock timber land to their tract at Marieoville, and intend commencing operations this summer. The good citizens of Sheffield Junction, this county, propose to show their patriotism of the Fourth, by a grand celebration, in which races, fire works, balloon ascensions, and dancing will figure among the many attractions on the program. When the boys up there set themselves for a good time they generally have it, and this will likely be no exception to the rule. The temperance resolutions passed by the International Sunday School Convention of 1887, declared that every Sunday School should be in fact and in e fleet a temperance training school, and that the Sunday School which does not stand as a rock against the abominations of the liquor traffic, and train up a generation pledged to total abstinence, is missing one of its greatest opportunities for unefulness. Wilnon, Esq., received a handsome vote at the Republican primaries of Forest county last week, and was declared the nomi nee for that county for the State Sen ate. This gives him two counties, with good prospects of secutiog the nomination in the district. No better candidate could be put in the field, as he is a young man of marked ability, and if nominated and elected will rep resent the interest of the district iu a manner that we know would be highly satisfactory to his constituents. Clar ion Republican. Joe Faller, a deputy constable, came in from Marionville on Friday evening lust, having in charge Charles 1 larger, whom be lodged io jail on a charge of breaking into a shanty in the vicinity of Marieuville, and steal ing a number of articles. It was quite a destructive fire, burning the barrel houso, wax house and press house, with much valuable machinery. The fire originated iu the harrel bouse, cause unknown. The loss is estimated at twenty-five thousand dollars. The fire made a very fine sight with the river hills for a back-ground aud if the amateur photographer wasn't there ho missed a good subject. A big laugh was raised among some of the boys returning from the fire when they found the Cornplanter Refinery men were plying a big stream of water on their buildings something less than ball' a mile away aud the wiud iu the opposite diiection. It would require a lively imagination to see a possibili ty of danger there. The census enumerator has found one crank so fur, and I know who it is but wont give it away. He is liable to discover more of them. 1 Warren, Pa., June 23. X. Lickingville. Quarterly meeting was held iu the Evangelical church on Sunday. Tbe sacred tie of comradeship that had its origin upon the tented field, along the weary march, as well as amid tbe conflict of battle, and being firmer cemented In later years by tbe principles of the G. Let us, if possible, strengthen those ties of comradeship in Fraternity, Charity, and Loyalty. Stand shoulder to shoulder as in the trying days of cruel war, ever bearing in mind this sad fact that One by one our Comrades fall j Ono by ono thoy pass away And beneath the snblo pall Ono by ono are laid away.
