Joslyn died at her home near Tylersburg, on Mouday last after an illness of several months, She was 33 years of age and leaves husband and four or five children to mourn her loss. Kev. .Mcllliar, a prominent member of the fraternity, will deliver the lecture, to which a general invita tion is extended. Brigham Esq., editor of the lato Franklin Penny Press, has purchased the Mead ville Ztat'fy Herald, and assumed possession. Mr. Brie- ham is a talented and vigorous writer, will give the people of Crawford coun ty one of the beet daily papers they ever had, and we bespeak for him a large patronage from the intelligent people of Mead ville and surroundings. A large barn belonging to Robert Shotts, near Tylersburg was destroyed by fire on Saturday night last. Over thirty tots of bay and several hundred lollars' worth of farm implements were consumed. .Our iuformant was unable to learn whether or not there was any insurance on the property, nor what the amotiot of the loss would be. Incendiarism is supposed to be I lie cause. While next week is court week, it is pretty certain there will be but a few hours of it. The jurors drawn for that time have beeu notified by Prothonotary Shawkey that they needu't show up, there being no crim inal cases on the docket, aud but one or two civil cases to try, which have been nut over to December term. An argument court will be held couunienc ing at two o'clock Monday. Frank Hunter had a finger of his left hand badly mashed by a car wheel falling on it, tearing the nail entirely off. Lee Averill, one of the drillers of the well coins down at Fox Creek, re ceived a bad cut across the back of one of his hands with an ax. Adam Ikenburg Lad the bad luck to cut good sized gash in one of his legs near the knee. Aud Boyd Jones received quite a bad cut on his left arm, below the elbow, by a glancing blow from an ax in the bands of a companion All are more or less disabled for time by these mishaps. On Monday of this week Robert Hunter, son of Wm. Hunter of Ne braska, met with a singular accident, which may yet prove fatal. He was engaged, near Fox Creek, in rossing timber where the ground was some what steep, and had laid his ax down and was in the act of passing by it when his foot slipped and he fell back ward striking the bit of the ax, which laid In such a position as to enter the back close under the left shoulder blade. The blade of the ax Imit'j.' nearly five inches wide, cut a gusli the entire width of itself through the back and into the chest cavity. He was cooveyed to his homo and Dr. Siggios summoned, who found upon his arriv al the worht cut he ever met with in his practice. So laige was tho incis on that the doctor was able to insert bis entire hand in the cavity, one of the ribs being cut in two. After the wountl was dressed the young man felt quite comfortable, but the doctor feels none too certain as to his chances of recovery. The young man is aged about 17 years. Tionesta Township Schools. The directors of Tionesta township met at the office of T. F. Ritehey Esq., on Saturday last for the nurpose of electing teachers for the winter schools, aud the transaction of other business. The coutract for furnishing coal to all houses but oue Jamiesou's was let to Minim McMichael. General re pairs were ordered to be made on the Huuter Station school house, includ ing new patent seals; also new seats for Hunter Run building, and gener al repairs ou Jamieson buildiug, to gether with such repairs as are ueeJed to other buildings throughout the dis trict. Wm. Lawrence was exonerated from the payment of school tax in the township for 1887, fur the reason that his children attend in the borough. Teachers were elected as follows: Huuter Station, three months, Cbns. Stewart; Huuter Run, four months, Miss Nellie Barber; Jamieson, six months, R. S. Thomson ; Oldtown, three months, MibS Ida Paup; Smokey Hill, four months, Miss Minnie A Wood ; Blocher, four mouths, John Rhodes ; Shriver, four months, C. L. Myers; Haddlesan, six months, Miss D. C, Davidson. All tenehers to re ceive $28 per month, and the Secreta ry was ordered to article with same before entering upon their duties. The apparent diversion from the new school law compelling six months I school, as shown in the above list, is accouuted for by the fact that some have already hail a sufficient number of months schooling to make up the discrepancy. The next meeting of the board was set for October 8, at 1 o'clock p. m., at T. F. Ritchey's office. Forest County's Insano. Sarah Slioupe is quiet but her mind is very much deranged. Wm. Barnhart is restless and excit able, but not violent or generally noisy. Isaac Reed is just ever one of his long periods of excitement and is be coming more quiet. Samuel Hawthorne continues with out any special change quiet and pleasant. Olive Noble has been more quiet and comfortable lately. Peter Guenther is restless aod ex citable aud bis mind very much dis ordered. Andrew D. One Is that the drivers of Conestoga wag ons on tho National pike were In the hab it of buying cheap, strong cigars, and, being heavy smokers, kept asking for a cheaper cigar than wbs then made. Over at Washington, Ta., a cignr maker, in answer to tills demand for cheaper cigars, evolvod a long, slender roll of tobacco, which he ollered to the drivers and freight ers, and was called Conostoga cigar, ab breviated afterward to "stoga," and later to "stogie." Last week Darnum's bill posters got a double team and driver of Mr. Kysingor, and went out to Shefliold. Reluming the team ran away throwing out the drivor and hurting him seriously. The bill post ers jumped out and oscaped Injury. Com ing down the hill this side of Stonehain, the horses, now freed from tho wagon, overtook Mrs. Jerry Crary, of Shefliold, who was coming towards Warren in a buggy, with her 14 year old boy driving. The horses attempted to pass the buggy, one on each side. The crash broke the buggy somewhat, and threw Mrs. Crary and hoy out. She was badly bruised, and tho shock to her nervous system Is rather serious. She was brought to Warren is now with her mother, Mrs. Dunham. The boy was not much hurt.
