At Gusher City there are signs of some activity Mr. Piatt is clearing some on his lease, and will chau out and rig up in lietter shape some, if tint all, or uearly all, the wells on his lease this summer. Capt llaight is cleuring some on his lease adjoining town. There is talk of a new store to br opened in Gusher, and the location of a machine shop there during the sum mer. There seems to be little probability that the saw mill at Cooper's will be rebuilt. One would hardly believe that there is as much ice and snow yet back among the hills and the hemlocks. Of course there are no glaciers to epeak of, and oue isu'l exactly afraid of breaking through the crust and finding himself buried in snow up lo his chin ; Qotbiog of that kind. The roads are rough, and at this time o' year a mile s at its greatest dimensions. The time of the maple sugar ba come, flacked by the advent of the robin Crawford's Mill on the Tionesta creek 3 miles ab ve Fox's, was burn ed oo Monday evening of last week. The loss is $2500, maybe more. It was insured for $2000, we understand. It will probably be rebuilt. Thomas Corah will leave the Ball town house by April 1st. Mr. Fair will succeed Mr. Corah as laudlord there. ' Braden Grubhs was severely injured Saturday evening at Bear Creek, He was rafting there, and in rolling a log or stick of timber the log dropped on a "skid" about 4 or 5 inches in diam eter snapping it io two aud throwing one piece up and back. This piece struck Mr. Grubhs io the forehead knocking him dowu aud rendering him him seuseless. Dr. Morrow was sum tnoucd who arriving did all that could be dooe to relieve him. He is still liviug and has regained consciousness. The prospects are slightly in favor of bis recovery. Tkamf. BURGLARY. I On last Thursday night the boldeit ! "UeraPt t burglarizing was made here that has ever occurred in the bis tory of the town. May, Park & Cn.'s Bank, and Haslet's store were the ob jects of burglarious intention. The d or of Haslet's store was forced open, and the burglars from all indications stem to have held high caruival while in poKsessinti. Eatables in the shape of canned goods and crackers weie taken ; $12 to money was takeu from the money drawer; Some powder, and various other articles, the value or amount of wbirh it is difficult to make a very cl .se estimate. The thieves bad probably gone through the store before beginning operations at the bank, and no doubt secured the pow der for subsequent use. Appearances would indicate that thev had first entered the bank through the centre window oo the North side of the buildiog by raising the lower sash. Getting in they bad turned their aitemi iu toward getting into the vault. An a;tempt had been made to blow -ff the vault dour, but without success Then they had gone r..und to the West side of the bank and nisiug the wiudow in the rear of the vault bad digged a h de about 20 inches square through the back Wall of the vault, thus securing an entrance. The vault is out, and was not intended to he, burglar proof, but only fire proof Its contents cousistad chiefly of valuable papers, and valuabli-s de poshed by parties for safe keeping. The papers and valuables are filed avay in small tin boxes arranged in pigeon holes along the sides of the vault. These boxes were taken down broken open and their contents gone through. There was no mouey in the vault so far as known. All that was taken so far as can he ascertained was a gold watch belonging to Mrs. F. F. Whittekin, a present and keepsake, aud valued at $80. No attempt was made oo the safe. There seems to be no clue t. the parties who did the work. The only tools left anywhere by the burglars with which they had been working rere a wrench taken from the stave mill over at the station, an oil can aud a sledge hammer from Blum's blacksmith shop This is the second time this sledge hammer has been drafted into like service at the bank There is a large gas light burning on the corner in frnut of the batik, i latge gas light on the corner North js.t.l - west oi toe nauk, ana distant from it not more than 12 rods, and besides, a good large gas jet is kept burning iu the bank through the oight. The front, and West side of the bank is in the full light of these gas torches and is almost light as day. The rear of the building is in the shadow, but even there the darkness is Dot auffi ctent to an..rd any coucealment to parties engaged as these parties were Byrom Station.
