How to teach multipli cation, was opened by B. F. Winans and R. Z. Gillespie. All the teachers took part in the discussion earnestly. Winans illustrated the eld war of teaching the table by leading the In stitute in singiog it. Wiuans and Gillespie sang each line as a duet as aisled occasionally by Hillard, to the tune of O' Haddam, the whole Iusti tute singing the 5's as a chorus to the tune of Yankee Doodle. How to teach meaning of words in spelling: classes. Pronunciation of Geographical- names. How to teach counting. And other questions were discussed. II. Z Gillespie offered tho following resolutions. That it is the sense of the Institute that the Direct ors of this township, be requested to purchase a Webster's Unabridged Dictionary for each school in the die trict, and thereby remove one of the known hindrances to the efficiency of the teacher and the welfare of too pu pils.
