The prospects are good fur exten sive oil developments in this section within the next year. A syndicate has been formed which has leased the extensive Collins tracts, consisting of about 9000 acres, and the Lacy lands containing about 5000 acres, doth in Greea township, and will give them a thorough test. The paities are all ex perienced and successful operators and producers, and there will be no boy s play about these developments. They are confident of opening up a Dew oil field, and if they do it will be no small affair. We understand it is the intention to put down at least ten wells on the Collins lands and five ou the Lacy lands within the next eighteen months; at any rate the most thor ongh tests will be made before the search is abandoned. A very distressing accident hap pened to Albert Burdick, who lives at Kellettville, 00 Saturday last, while out hunting with a comrade, Dan Baker. A squirrel had been "treed,' and in order to scare it around the tree where Baker could get a shot a it, Burdick had picked up a etidge and was making a racket in the brush at the foot of the tree. The squirre started to come down and bad go near the ground when Baker's guu, a 40.6O Winchester, was discharged, th ball entering Burdick's right hand a tbe little finger, and passing through came out at the thumb ; Laving hi hand clutched about the stick it was ;u consequence much more severely shattered than it otherwise would have been. Nearly every county in the State was represented at the meeting of the County Commissioners of the several counties in the State at llarrisburg last week. The object of the meeting was to discuss and devise means where by a general uniformity of tax laws could be brought into existence, and the revision of taxes, etc., and for im pressing upon the next legislature the importance of proper action looking toward better methods of taxation. For this purpose committees were ap pointed from the different counties. Forest county's efficient board was in attendance and took a deep interest in all the proceedings.
