Mrs. Jemima Everhart, net Gilfil lan, was burn Juue 18, 1834, and died .March 8, 1886. Mrs. Everhart was the daughter of the Rev. James and Mm. Jane Gilfil Jan. She was of Scotch descent, her parents having been born io Scotland. Sister Everbart rrofebsed faith in Christ aud joined the Washington M. E. Church in 1848, auder the labors of the Rev. Alva Wilder. She was ftmoDg the first members of this class. She was married Feb. 4, 1853, to Mr. John S. Everhart. They were blessed with one child, Mies Mary J. Ever bart. Sister Everhart not only pro fesaed religion but also lived it. She was always faithful in discharging Christian duty. She and her husband held family worship alternate evenings. Her husband said to the writer, "I shall never forget the prayer she of fered the Sabbath evening before the Monday she was murdered. It was so earnest." Sabbath afternoon, March 7, ate waa in Washington M. E. Church listening to the Truth as pre sented by the writer, and Moniay fell asleep in Jesus. Alitnugh Sister Ev erbart was taken out of this world so unexpectedly to herself and others yet we do not besiute in saying that we believe her freed spirit is with the innumerable company before the throne of God. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; Yea, saith the Spirit that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them." Reve lation 14, 13. The funeral services were conducted by the writer. He was ably assisted by the following brethren, namely: the lieverends B. F. Feict of the Ev angelical Association, G. Sill of the Evangelical Lutherau Church, and Alva Wilder, B. F. Delo and W. S. Gearhart of the M. E. Church. The opinion is that the funeral was the largest ever held in Clarion County. There were about twelve hundred peo ple atfended. After the addresses and the final leave taking the remains were deposited in the silent grave in Wasington M. E. Churchyard to await the resurrectiou morn. Bereft hus band, weeping daughter, and other i i i i relatives, jour loverj one, we oeneve, died a christian. Christ says, "I am the resurrection and the life," there fore you weep but not as those without licpe. C, H Fbamptos. County exchanges please copy. Asd still the factions of the free trade Democrats are bent opon driv ing poor Billy Morrison to distraction. South Carolina wants a duty on rice, Louisiana wants a duty on sugar, Kentucky wants a duty on hemp, and he don't know how to extend the free list and retain the votes of those States for his reform bill at the same time. Morrison has been so perplexed in bis dorts to solve the problem they have set before kin. that they say he is more cross eyed than ever, aud is sink ing into imbecility. Alas! Poar Hurd, be cauld not be Have that the people of his district were in real earnest in voting for Romeis over him, just because they did not like bis free trade craze. But it seems they did really mean it. For the House committee, a majority of i i . wnom would gladly naveeeated llurd, have foond no flaw in the returns, aud have been compelled to sav so. and Romeis will keep his seat. Free trade laid llurd out, and nothing else For he is otherwise a good fellow. List of Patents. List of Patents granted by the V. S.
