A Tramp necessarily becomes a philosopher in he broad sense of the term. From the very nature of the existence he leads he naturally and from force of habit learns to read the signs of tne times, especially the signs of the timet of coming storms, wheth er of the winds of adversity or ordi nary weather. Abroad at all seasons aud at all hours, at home iu all kiods of company, easy ia all conditions of life below moderate, he observes and learns to draw very correct conclu sions from his observations. His ob sorptions lead him to the conclusion that as a general rule people provide and keep with them those various ar ticles, implements, instruments, hered itaments, or things in general, that their business requires, their pleunure inclines toward, or that opportunities present to their very willing desires. For instance no man carries a pint flask properly labelled and filled for ballast merely. Your meek stranger who out-Herods Herod in his clerical aspect has a uee fur the 52 pieces of ornamented cardboard he carries in his overcoat pocket, Aud, ordinarily, should an individual be found vita exslinctut (your tramp is cosmopolitan and consequently classical,) the con tents of hia pockets would furnish a clue, quite easily, to his character, if not lo his identity. It would be quite novel, but quite striking, if the con tents of a man's pockets were laid out ou the pnlpit and made the text for his funeral oration. At last accounts nothing had beerwages and cash monthly for good Tie ....i ..r t n M,.n.:.io k i.;. i t. o... n heard of T. B. McBride by his friends at Gusher, since his departure from that place ou the morning of Nov. 3rd., only that he was registered al a hotel at Sheffield, had stayed there all night, and had taken a morning train ; which way, however, was not known. He had been chosen as teacher at Cooper's Mill; had taught two weeks; closed school on Friday evening Oct. 30, for one week, iuleuding to go to election ou next Tuesday and then go to Tiuuesta for examination before the Co. Supt, Ou Tuesday morning be came up from Cooper's to go over to Brookslou with the v ter from Gush er, lie was too late in getting to Gusher as those from that place had gone a short time wheu he came there. He started ou after them, that beiug the last seen or heard of him, only as above stated. The schools at Gusher, Balltown and Bohhs Creek are healed with gas. N. C Taylor of Fox's deserves bou. orable mention for the improvement wrought, under his bands in the ap- pearance of the school-grounds as Che Fox sshool. The school house at Gusher amf the one at Beaver Valley have both un dergone some improve Jients. Misses Maude and Lena Pot, teach ers respectively at Brown's Mill and Fox's have been quite ill, tint are re covered so far that both-cxpest to re sume work at their schools uext week. "Blessed be the man who iuvented plank roads." Cooper's Mill, otherwise Welchville, is the scene of considerable activity and pledty of mud. A rusty stove may radiate as much heat us a nicely blacked one, hut their aesthetic and moral influences differ widely. Balliown has no idle men within its tu vironmeiit ; all are busy. A bridge is being built across the Tionesla at Cooper's Mill. Probably more far the purpose of getting log across the creek than for any other purpose. Business seems quito lively at Whig Hill. R. J. -Butler the good natured black-smith has settled down iu a cosy little house opposite bis shop on the foruer. Stowe Town above Hickory on the Plank .Road is booming up. A track ia being laid and it will soon have rail road communications steam motive power with the limber woods up Hickory Creek. - Wheeler.A Go's new steam mill will be ready to start prob ably by Christmas or a little later. Supt. Hillard assisted by II. Z. Gil lespie held a rousing educational meet ing at Stewart's Run on Friday -evening. Another meeting will be held there soon. The Tramp's logical friend says that a good teacher will be so benefitted by attendance at Intitute, as to more than make up to his school the time lost at Institute, and as to the poor teacher the sshool house will be s. much bet ter off for his absence that length ol time. Hence teachers should be al lowed the time. Queer argument. It seems that the hooey of Forest county possesses the characteristics of tho same product of the same symbol of industry of the land of Palestine in the days of King Saul. Our observation is that a man de cs nlly clad has at least 3 chances lu riud employment to a man attired as a a a a a tramp for instance, both otherwise on an equal footing. Gusher City supports a good liter ary society which meets every Satur day evening.
