A Dew com met has been discover ed, which the thick-skulled professors tell us is located in the constellation of Pegasus, near the star Beta. It was very thoughtful in the gentlemau to tell just where tho new celestial visi tor was located, else we might have ruined our eye sight looking for the blarsted tbiDz. It might also be proper to state that it requires a tele scope several fect long to see it. Nothing was done at court this week that is of interest to the general reader. Licences were- granted to T. R. of Pa., has ordered As sistant Adjutant General O'Flahetty, of Oil City, to install Post No. 311, at Tidioute, to-morrow, Thursday, even ing. Several of the comrades of Cap tain George Stow Post, of this place, have signified their intention to take part in the ceremonies. Tliid has been Court week in Tio nesta, but had it not been for the ring ing of the bell one would scarcely have known it. There being but few cases on the civil list, and none w hat even on the criminal calendar, the ju rors were notified that tbeir services would not be required. This argues well for the morals of our county, and is a source of pride to every good cit izen io it. Messrs. Whitney & Maudeville are rnnning their Marienville hub factory on full time, turning out about four hundred hubs per day; they have their works equipped in the most convenient manner and with the most approved machinery. The time will soon come when they will drag a birch log in at one end of the factory, run it through, and bring out a finished and painted wagon at the other. As will be seen by notices pub liihed elswhere in this issue, the mer cantile firm nf Ilolemi u & Hopkins, in this place has been dissolved by mutual consent, Mr. A.lIJeman re tiring, and Mepgrs. Eli Holeman, L. J. Hopkins and F. R. Landson taking bis place; the firm name will hereaf ter be II. J. Hopkins & Co. While we are sorry to have Mr. Holeman re tire from business in this place, we are pleased to think that his place is taken by such pleasant, energetic, and enterprising gentlemen. By square dealing, reasonable prices, and keeping in stock such goods as the communi ty waut, the firm has gained a very extensive patronage, which we feel satisfied the new firm will continue to have in the future. They have our best wishes for abundant success. A Notorious Character Killed. . J George Coyle, for many years the terror of new oil region towns, and who is known all through oildom as the most notorious ruffian in the dig gings has at last met his death, and as is the case, generally, with such char acters, died with his boots on. Since the new towu of Forest City, has sprung up on the Cooper tract, this county, Coyle has been making that his headquarters, and as of old has beea a terror to the well disposed citi zens, it seems that on Mouday be took occasion to slap an inoffensive man, who had io no way molested him, io the face whereupon the man, whose name, at this writing we have not learned, picked up a heavy stick of wood and struck Coyle on the head, crushing bis skull from which be died. Coroner Church, of East Hickory wis telegraphed for, but whether he leached there in time to hold an in quest we do not konw. Coyle is said to have beuu powerful iu stature but a coward by nature, and when he got hold of a person whom he could handle would beat him unmercifully on many occasions, however, he met bis match, and has several times been beaten within au inch of his life. What the outcome of the affair will be cannot be told at present, but that little attention will be paid to it is a natural conclusion. P. S. Since the above was io type we learned the following different ac count of Coyle's death : He was en gaged io a Mur 00 Saturday night, during which be received a shot io the font. Oo Sucday the doctor admin istered chloroform for the purpose of extracting the ball, and it is said be died foom the effects of the drug. This is perhaps the true story. - NOTICE. Isaac Siggins, whose serious illness we noted last week, died at his home, West Hickory, on Saturday night, Feb. 24th, 1883. Mr. Biggins, as nearly as we are able to learn, was born near where he died, in the year 1812, and at the time of bis death was 70 years and 5 months of age. His sickuess was only of about six weeks' duration. Thus has another of the old landmarks been swept away by the ruthless baud of Death. The fa mil liar form of Uu cle Isaac Siggins was well known to those who had occasion to travel past his place. He was an energetic roan in his younger days, and by that en ergy be amassed quite a fortune which kept him in ease and comfoit in old age. He had some peculiar character istics in his make up, one of which was that he never married ; yet witbal he was one of the most highly esteemed and respected citizens of our county. He was ever at peace with his neigh bors, by whom he will be greatly missed. He leaves one brother who lives near Pleasantville, and a large number of nephews and nieces, among whom we understand he divides his fortuoe equally, showing that he had no favorites, but loved them all. The funeral took place Mouday, his remains being laid to rest beside other rela tives io the family burial lot, near the old homestead. Qnite a numhsr of uld friends from this place attended.
