That the last day for being natural ized it Saturday, October 7. That the election occurs Tuesday, November 7. Another great reduction iu the National debt has taken place during the month of September, the amount being oyer $15,000,000, besides which there are nearly $7,000,000 ready to be paid for interest on the debt. Is this is not whittling the debt down at a lifelyrate? EvERy workingman in the State of Pennsylvania who votes the Demo cratic tieket this foil will vote against a protective tariff and in favor of a "tariff for revenue only." Can the laboring classes v6te for a party that, if successful, would legislate them out of employment? If not, do not vote for the Democracy. The Acting Secretary c the Treas ury on Tuesday ordered the Assistant Treasurer at New York to "redeem, without rebate or interest, on Wednes day of each week until further notice, bonds embraced in the one hundred and sixteenth and one hundred and seventeenth calls to an amount not ex ceeding five millions of dollars in each week." The Democratic delegates from this Senatorial district met at Brookville last week, and after something over TO ballots re-nominated Hon. John G. Hall as their candidate. The Demo crats could not have made ft better choice, and cs a nomination by that party in this district is equivalent to an election, we congratulate Senator Hall accordingly. Pattison in his speech at the Com monwealth Club said, as Governor he would take care that the laws be faith fully executed." Yet as Comptroller he failed to enforce the Philadelphia city ordinances which enabled the almshouse thieves to steal thousands of dollars. He would do no better as Gov etoor, and therefore should not, and will notfte elected. The rising tide in politics is with Genera! Beaver and the Republican party. Even the Democrats have ceased to herald Pattison's honesty, as the almshouse expose has flattened them out completely. The Independ ent movement, that was going to revo lutionize everything, has revolution ized nothing. It has subsided, except as a Democratic auxiliary. Beaver's splendid record and acknowledged capacity has steadily gained upon the people, aad they will elect him Gov ernor without doubt The Pittsburgh Dispatch apologizes to its readers for having published Thomas M. Marshall's vulgar remarks at n Independent meeting in Butler, and states that the objectionable lan guage got into the Dispatch by reason of the late hour the report of the speeeh was received, which made edi torial revision impossible. Having thus apologized for Marshall's speech, it i now in order for the Dispatch to apologize for Marshall himself. His whole course since the Harrisburg convention has been as great an out rage ou political integrity as his re marks at Butler were on common decency. J. K. WENK, Tub Patriot heads an article this morning, "What Pattison would do, The Patriot is very quiet as to "what Pattison has done," in the way of dis regarding Philadelphia city ordinal) ces and his oath of office, by which the almshouse thieves robbed th city, Never mind, Mr. Patriot, ''what Tatti' son would do;" that is only guess work. Did he not violate the ordin ance of Philadelphia and his oath of office in delivering warrants to Will iamson or his irresponsible messenger ? Did Pattison not acknowledge that he did so 7 That is "what Pattison has dose, and there is no telling what he would do if he were Governor, but the way to prevent him from violating Slate laws, as he has city ordinances, is Bot to elect him Governor, and that is "what the Republicans will do." Harrisburg Telegraph. In last week's Commonwealth Mr. Dingman airs himself in a column article upon the Republican meeting held in toe Court House Tuesday eve ning in general and Harry White in particular. He charges the General with making many mis-statements and insinuates that he was under the in fluence of liquor aud hence excusable. Of course Mr. Dingman knows that the insinuation is false, but throws it out thinking that it may have soaae affect on his readers ; he knows also that be was perhaps the only one in the large and. highly respectable audience who was so ungentlemanly to throw out such an insinuation ; and he knows further that all his insinuations in that direction are thrown out for political effect and that no gentle man would publish such falsehoods against a candidate no matter how bitterly he felt toward him. Mr. Dingman charges General White with making mis-statements, but if the General made half as many as did Mr. D. in his report of the meeting his chances for goiag to Congress, or any other good place are very slim. The trouble with Mr. D. :s that the General sat down upon him most too hard at that meeting. He read from the Commonwealth Mr. Diogrnan's com ments on the Republican platform, and thereby 6howed that that paper sneered at the plank in the platform which was identical with the monev plank, in the platform adopted by the National Democratio convention of 1880, and after sneering at their plat form had the audacity to ask Demo crats to vote for John D. Patton, who must necessairly be running on that platform if he was entitled to the vote f any true Democrat. If John D. Patton could not endorse "honest money, gold, silver and paper curren cy, convertible into coin on demand," then how could true Democrats, who have pledged themselves in favor ef such money, endorse Mr. Patton. This was a point which Mr. Dingman could aot bear t see General White make out of his comments, so be got up and tried to explain matters, but the more he tried to explain the worse he get into the muddle, and after thoroughly disgusting the audience, all of whom seemed to feel a pity for him, he mumbled over something, sat down, and, like the boy, had nothing more to say. Pay Your Taxes. We wish to call the attention of Re publican, especially, to the fret that not many days remain in which to pay State and County taxes, in order to Becure their vote at the November elections. And in this connection we publish below, for the convenience of all, a list of the Tax Collectors in each Township, and would urge upon the Republicans to make it their busi ness to see the collectors and learn if there are any dalinquents on his book, and if so, to see that such delinquent pays before the 7th of October, as that is the last day.
