Harrisburo, I'a., Feb. 14, '81. mjsorry I cannot say to-day we . j elected a Senator, but such is the ' ) case. Of course you are well aware j Jhat both Grow aud Oliver have withdrawn, and new men substituted V in the persons f General James A. Baavr, andTJolouel Thomas M. Bayne. Cameron and joining that mythical bugbear, the ring. Poor "Wolf! His failure to get the endorsement of the Grow men for Senator, even after tell ing them he had sixty Democrats ready to vote for him, has embittered lim, and no doubt makes biru feel like Ishmavl of old. This letter may not interest the ma jority of your readers, but a9 the "Sen atorial question is the nil absorbing one here, it is almost impossible to drift upon any other subject. I wish you to still bear in mind that if Bea ver does not carry vf the prize, that Lieutenant Gov. Stone is the favorite with many of the Representatives of both factions, and may yet be the com promized candidate, and the coming man. So mote it be. No important legislation has become the law of the land since my last in teresl'mg to the people of your county The new road bill introduced by Rep resentntive Davis, has been referred to a sub-committee of three of ,. which he is chairman. The sub-committee has agreed to report the bill with an affirmative recommendation, after t careful examination of its thirty differ ent sections. Davis' Railroad bill has had a backset in committee, but he is making an earnest fight to get a favor able report, which now looks proba' hie. Mr. Davis is now prepa-ring s bill, the purpose of which is to straglit en up the Hues ofCounties.by giving the citizens of townships, or portions of townships the right to annex them selves to adjoining counties, provided a maiority so express themselves through the ballot, aud the Commiss ioners of the County to which they wish to become attached consent to the same, &c, &c. Would the people of your County desire a bill of that kind passed in view of the fact that portion of two townships adjoining you might wish to avail themselves of its benefit?
