On joint ballot the Republicans will have a majority of 9 ofcr th Democrats and 3 tvir all rcordiog to the above list. CONGRESS. TI13 Popular Vote. From the Derrick we clip the fol lowing facts and estimates on the re sult of the electiou : We give below an estimated vote in the several states for Garfield and Hancock. The figures show that Gar field had not only secured a large majority of the electoral votes, but has also obtained a majority of the popu lar vote, being one of the few success ful aspirants for the position of Presi dent who h3 been hanored with that distinction. At the last election 8,300,000 votes were cast, of which Mr. Tilden received 4,277,000, and Presi lcnt Hayes 4,013,000. At the election on Tuesday, nearly nine millions of votes were cast; of which General Gar field received 4,524,500, and General Haucack 4,365,000. Following are the figures : Garfield, Hancock. The groat victory won by the Re publicans at the recent elections are a source of bou 111' less rejoicing to them everywhere, and none feel more joyful than the staunch and true members of the party in Forest county. They have eveiy reason to rejoice ; yet, when we look over the list of successful Candi da tcs in our midst and find not the name of our gallant General Harry White a nan? of sorrow touchea the heart of a every Republican, and we believe every lover of true worth aud ability. General White has been ono nf the ablest representatives in Cosgresa.aud made while there a national reputa tionone that will go down in history and should be a pride and honor to any American statesman. In national matters he stood in the front rank with his colleagues ir. the House, aud was ever ready to debate the great questions which came up. In local matters he was indefatigable in working for the welfaie and intereat of his constituents, and the services which he rendered theai have proven invaluable and cannot soon be forgotten. Consider ing the immense odds he had to con tend with General White made a gal lant fight and both ho and his frieuds ought to feel proud over the fact. Taking the vote of 180 he had over 7000 to overcome ; he came within 670 of doing it. This is truly a great compliment to him. Many of those who assisted in his defeat, we firmly believe are sorry for what they have done, and wonder why they did it. While Geu. White's defeat will ft great loss to the people of the 25th district and the Republicans in Con gress, the rest which he will got will doubtless do bim good, and his many warm eupportera in the district will wish him pcaca and Lappin&ss iu private life. Speaking of the Congressional quest ion the Brookville Republican tells the following truth: "We believe our people have made a great mistake. There will evidently be a Republican majority in the House of Representatives, aud a member representing no party, but claiming opposition to Republican measures geuerii Ily, will be of no par ticular use, and will not be able to do anything that might benefit his con stituents. We predict that tho 25th district will be virtually without a representative in the next Congress. Congressional and Judicial. The majorities in this district by STOVES!
