The bill providing for holding courts in Titusville, has passed finally and become a law. The citizens of that place and vicinity have been work ing for lo ! these many years, to form a new county round about there, with Titusville as the county seat, but fail ing in that they take the next best thing. Mr. II. A. Adams, who has for some time past been running . Derick son & Co.'s stave mill at Tylersburg, has moved back to Tionesta, and has taken the contract of running the mill here. The Tylersburg mill has con 6olidated with Mr. T. J. Payne's mill, and Mr. P. will have charge f it here after. We publish the Court Proclama- tion and Trial list for May term of Court in this issue. There are quito a number of causes to be tried, and it looks as though we might have a full week of Court. Litigants, lawyers, jurors, witnesses and candidates will throng our streets and crowd our ho tels, and a short era of prosperity will undoubtedly strike out town. MINUTES OP MEETING OF KEPUBUOAN COUNTY COMMITTEE. Tionesta, Pa., April 20, 1878. The Republican Connty Committee of Forest County met in Tionesta Bor ough on April 19, 1878, pursuant to the call of the Chairman, Leonard Agnew. All members were presont, except those from Howe, Hickory and enks Townships. W. E. Lathy, Esq. was elected Secretary. Hon. J. B. Agnow was chosen Rep resentative Dolcgato to the State Con vention, and is uninstructed. The question of arranging for ap pointment of Senatorial Delegate was eft to L. Agnew, chairman, to confer with other counties in the district. The Republican Primary Elections were nxed lor baturday, June 2ld, 878, from 2 to 7 o'clock r. ah W. E. Lathy, Esq. proposed the fol- owing amendment to a section of the Crawford County System, to-wit : "The section of the Crawford County System adopted by Forest County Re publicans as their system, which pro- des that if three or more Democrats vote at a Republican primary election in any primary election district, the whole poll of said district shall be thrown out and not connted, is hereby so amended, that only the votes of those Democrats so voting shall be thrown out, and the balance of the poll shall be counted." On motion of Mr. Lathy, is was re solved that the question of the adop tion or rejection of said amendment be voted upon at the Republican pri maries, on June 22d next, the ballots to be used in the premises to have printed thereon "For Amendment and "Against Amendment." On motion of Mr. John Thompson, of Harmony Twp.. the Committee passed the following resolution : "Resolved, That the test of a voter's right to vote at Republican 'primaries shall be his statement to the board that he is a Republican that no voter who claims to be a Democrat and merely promises to support the Repub lican ticket, or a part of it in the fall elections shall be allowed to vote ; and that the Chairman of the Republican County Committee is hereby instructed to so notify the several Ropublican primary election boards. On motion of Wm. B. Heath, ot Kingsley Twp., the Chairman was di rected to appoint a Republican pri mary election house at Balltown, for tho benefit of the lower end of Howe Twp. On motion of Mr. Henry Setley, of Upper nrmony Twp., the meeting adjourned sine die. Leonard Agnew, Chairman. W. E. Latiiy, Sec'y. James Hulings, of this place, young man "to tho manor born," and who inherits a certain amount of skill in the arts of hunting and fishing from his ancestors, demonstrated his dex terity in the nse of the rod and line, on Saturday last, by catching upward of sixty trout in Tubb's Run, a stream which has heretofore been considered almost a "dry hole, as far as trout are concerned. One of the trout cap tured was eleven inches in length, and weighed eight ounces. This is the largest trout caught in Forest County this season, so-far as we are informed It was a beauty, and made the balance of the catch look like minnows. The whole lot weighed three and a quarter pounds, ana was sold at vo cts. per pound. Jimmy wears tho belt unti we can hear of a larger trout or better string being captured by some other fisherman. The best pond flood of the season occurred yosterday, and we believe that nearly all the lumber and timber from Buck Mills down, came out. The river is just now in good rafting stage from the effect of the rain Monday night, but unless there comes more water the rafts cannot be run from the mouth of the creek into the river. We notice quite a number of rafts from above going down this morning. This is a very pleasant time for a trip to Pittsburgh on the river. The First National Bank of War ren declared itself ready, on and after yesterday, to redeem its circulating notes in gold, being the first bank in Northwestern Pennsylvania to take this step. This looks very much like a solid basis, and it lacks some eight months of the time set by law 'for the resumption of specie payments. It is to be hoped that Congress will now let the question alone awhilo, as the fiuuu cial outlook is better than it has been fyr years. The new features which have been added to Lallou'a Monthly Magazine, the past few months are finding great favor with tho public, and all who read it are delighted, as well they may be, for there is no publication in the country that can compare with it for variety and general interest. There is not a dry article in the May number, and all the illustrations and poetry and stories are fresh and timely, inter esting and exciting. There is an arti cle on gardening which is alone worth tho prico of Ballou's.
