Republican State Convention. 1 tie Republicans of the State of Pennsylvania are hereby requested to assemble by their delegates iu State convention, at noon oa Wednesday, the 26th day of May, 1875, in Uie Fulton Opera House, at the city of Lancaster, for the purpose of nomi nating candidates for Governor and State Treasurer. Each Representa tive and Senatorial District will be :.i.i i .... iuuwcu tu mo same representation as it una under the present apportion me nt fur Senators and Representatives in the Legislature. Russell Errett, A. Wilson Norkis, Chairman, tf Secretary, i Communicated. Prominent among the Republican candidates for State Treasurer is Fos ter W. Mitchell, of Franklin, Pa. This office is really due the Western part of this State.cousidering the distri bution of offices at the present time. There are numerous reasons why he should receivo the support of the par ty iu this section, the principal one of which is, that be is a good man, and a Republican that caunot be gainsttyed ; has spent his life in this vicinity, and is well-known to most of ourolilei citi zen. He is pre-emiueiitly a self-made mau, quiet, unostentatious and able. Hit would fulfill tho duties of tho of fice with honor to himself aud con stituents. Ho is nearer to us than 'any other candidate, having spent his early days iu the" neighborhood of I'leasaniville, and, filling as ho doei, tho Jollersuniuu test of "capability and honesty," is the nam of the times. s. D. I. Tho following items aro takeu from the Clusrliekt Journal; Apyur Bloom, of C'urwensville, who w.10 aj tcvcitly hurt by a hand tsjiike w. u. iruxx - while engaged in "snubbing" a raft.on the river, near Harrisburg, some tiny ago, passed through this place ou his way home, on Monday last, in a criti cal condition. His skull is cracked and he is otherwise hurt. . Since Monday a gentleman named McNeill has been hunting nil around Sandy Ridge station for three or four of his fingers, llo either attempted to jump upon, or jumped off a moving train, and in so doing full and threw one of his bauds upon the track. The result of the car wheels aud hand com ing in contact can easily be conjec tured. One of his aukles was very severely injured and two of his ribs were broken. Tho gentleman is a member of the firm of McNeal & Akcrs, of Altoona. It may be remembered that a few years ago Dr. Irwin's only son was brutally murdered bv a band of un friendly Indians. Those acquainted with the circumstances of that tragical affair wonder that he still continues In the Indian country, and surrounded by Indians. He seems to have a dif ferent view of the case, from what would be a general one. Instead of revenge a natural fueling he gives his aid in civilizing aud Cbristaiuizing the untutored red men. His success may be inferred from the foregoing. . N. F, BCRNHAM'S TURBINE WATER WHEEL vVa selected, 4 years auro, and put to work in the U. S. Patent Oilicc, 1.
