The Representative Delegates from Clarion and Forest counties met at Tylersburg on Monday last. The del egates from this county were J. B. Agnew, Jas. Green and Hon. A.Cook. The Clarion delegates were Chas. Mc Laughlin, J. J. Frazier and Dr. J. Frank Ross. ,. On motion Jas.' Green, Esq., was elected President, and Chas. McLaugh lin and J. B. Agnew Secretaries. F. E. Allison was . unanimously nominated Republican candidate for Assembly, ,- - . Ou motion adjourned. The Assembly Question A new way to Maintain the Right of Forest County. " We find the following in the Forest Vress of last week : . TO THE DEMOCRATIC VOTERS OF FOK EST COUNTY. As two teamsters with heavily load ed sleds were approaching each other, one of them cried, "Get out of the road, or I'll serve you as I did a ftl low back there !" The one addressed immediately left the road and let the other pass, when he inquired what he did to that fellow who would not leave the road. "Why, darn him, he'd not leave the road for me, and I left it for him!" Now, if the Democrats, of (Jlarion won t leave the road tor us. would leave it for them, as I would rather have a Clarion Democrat to represent me in the Legislature than a Republican from Forest or Clarion either. Would not you T Isaac C. Biggins. Yes if he was as good a man Ed. Was ever county in this humor wooed? Was ever county in this hu mor won T Shades of Jefferson ! is it possible? The ,love of party in the breast of Mr. Siggins must be better developed than it is in "the rest of mankind." Now, had our party had the majority in this district as tho Demo crats have, and, in short, had the Re publican conferees of this county been treated with contempt by the Clarion county conferees and candidate, as Lave the Democrats, we don't believe there is a man in the Republican par ty in this county who would not by every weaus in his power try to defeat Clarion's candidate. Mr. Siggins was one of the conferees of Forest county in the memorable Fry burg conference, and knows he iu common with the oth ers, was not treated with ordinary de cency considering the portion be . oo cupied, b,ut. with the other Vcrcst con ferees was entirely iguortd ! And yet, be would have the very man wba caused hiia to be treated in this mau- ner, elected in preference to a Repub lican, no matter if that Republican U ' the best man in the field. Such mag uanimily U worthy of due uotiee, and is more than could hare reasonably been expected from this source.- It is barely possible that there are more Democrats in this county of Mr. Sig gins' way of thinking, but we believe they could be counted on one's fingers, and they are surely of the material that martyrs are ninde of. Meanwhile let things work. If we cannot put iu Republican Representative, wo are very much in hopes that Williams will be put where he belongs, and a de cent and fair-minded Democrat sent in his place. Speaking of Judge Gordon, the German town Telegraph says : "Judge Gordon, the nominee of H19 Republi can party of Pennsylvania, for a seat on the bench of the Supreme Court, as he daily becomes more. familiarly known to the people, is in the some ratio becoming more popular. That the choice of the Convention was a wise and judicious one, is acknowl edged on all hands. His character and qualification are not simply ad mitted facts in the ordinary sense of partisan paragraphs, but they are of such a standing as will satisfy the most fastidious of our lawyers that he will prove upon the bench, at least, the peer of any one seated there. We do not depend upon ourselves for this personal statement, but upon the per sonal knowledge of those who have authority to speak." The Court of Appeals in Brook lyn, has just decided iu tha case of Homan vs. Garla, that if a young man kisses a spinster, she is either en titled to his hand in matrimony, or damages; which in this case were awarded at $15,000. It has been sug gested that the follows "vat court in the passage" wear nose-bags, and blind bridles hereafter, and be very careful how they "shine their eye." And now let all old bachelors beware how they indulge iu this nocturnal amusement. The results may prove disastrous, if not to their affections, at least to their pockets.
