Almut mx o'clock Siiliinriiy evening it party mjy'cI t" consist of ninu moll, uiikiniwi', committed a bolil rob Wry t tlm liousn of Mr. John Wat m Hoar Tic?villp, on the IMcnsnnt ville roail. The ruffians cnforprl the honso while tho family were at cupper, nml hound and pugged the four mem bers present. They then forced Mr. Watson to open his safe, and abstriiet d lliprefrom between one nuri two tliousnml dollars. After this diecess ful financial venture they compelled the entire family to accompany them to tho different rooms and watch them ransack everything that could be sup posed to contain valuable. Not find ing anything of particular value, they blindfolded Mrs. Watson ami her daughter, bound their hands and feet together, and tied them to a sofa. Not ratified with this they attached a line to the stove and around their persons, o that any attempt made by the ladies to escape would upset the stove and fire ttie hi. use. The robbers had here tofore acted lusurely, but on leaving the house some confusion occurred, in which the lamp was overturned and the kitchen set on fire. One of the men very considerately extinguished the flames and saved the lives of the iumates. Tho gang disappeared and nothing has since been seen of them. About eleven o'clock Mr. Stewart, n member of the family, went home from the city and found them bound and gngged as left by the robbers. Without waiting to liberate them he returned and notified Chief of Police Rouse, who, with a number id" the force, repaired to Watson's house, and liberated the inmate. They hail all HitfTered much from ill-treatment uinl Mrs. Stewart especially is in a critical condition. As yet not the faintest clue of the robbers has been inind, ond it is piobable that cro this they are safe in some of thn lnrger cities. The gang seem to have known iUni ' 51 r. Watson find money in the house, and to be well acquainted with the premises, as they had iri.ns and iojvb ready to secure every member of the household. They were ull masked, mid each one curried u revolver nud club. The citizens of Titusville are great ly excited over this bold outrage so near the city, and on Saturday could talk of little else. Every one had a theory to advance which of course touched everything hut the right one. The police are using every etl'irt to secure the marauders, and may suc ceed, but success is doubtful. It seems that there has been a gnng opperating throughout the oil country of late, more especially in tho lower districts. During the sn pension en gine houses were robbed of everything movable, and only last week a sewing machine agent was waylaid between Fuirview and Petrolia, and robbed of seventy dollars. These outrages were tloubtl ess committed by the same gang. Th;y will, of course, keep tdiady till the excitement cools off, but it would bo well for all to keep a sharp lookout and have all suspicious char acters promptly removed. Derrick.
