Republicans CO Democrats 59 Independent 1 Republican Majority 20 On Thursday the 28tb nit., a man giving his name as Hiram Daily, gave himself up to Squire Steiuer, of Knox township, eonfessirg to (he murder of one Sprowl, of Washington county, in the sping of 18Gi. Also to tiielt ot several horses, one oT which was in his possession. He was brought to town by a constabU and Indued in jail. Sheriff McPlierxon this morning Tuesday telegraphed to the Sheriff of Washington county, and received an answer that the crime hd been committed at tho time iudieated. A telegram to Sharon, Mercer county, where i hail taken the horses and rig found in his possession, brought the re ply that they were musing, nnd that parties would come on at once to claim the property. This is all that has thus lar been ton ml out relative to the man, and leaves little doubt of the correctness ot his storv. lie utates that his conscience has hnrrassed him ever since he perpetrated iho crime. havirg no rest day nor night, always laboring under the impression that the olfieers of the law, were in close pur suit of him. Even while among the savage Indians this feeling oppressed him, and hnally he could hear it no longer, nnd surrendered as we above state, to Squire Steiner. Since writing the above, parties from Sharon come on an. I claimed the horse a buggy, aud took them awav, the prisoner remaining in custody. Brookville Republican.
