For four or five years past Mrs Tredwell had Iteen afflicted with a fibroid tumor which caus ed her untold suffering. Eminent spec ialists were interested in her case and for the past year her friends had leen lil to hoje tliat she was lieing slowly bat per manently cared. Four or five weeks ago Mrs Tredwell went to the liedside of her aged mother. Shortly after arriving at her destination she lieonine ill, but her innate cheerful ness forltade serious apprehension on the part of her mother's household for her condition, and it was Tuesday afternoon ltcfore they realized that tho angel of death was in their midst. Major Tredwell was pmmptly sum moned to the Itedside of his lsdoved wife, bat the dispatch had Iteen delayed too long and the eud cams before ho reached Harrisburg. The iKxly was prepared for burial and was brought hero Friday evening and on Saturday morning, after religious servi ces of an impressive and touching char acter had been conducted bv Rev. T. J. Bi-istow, assisted by Elder Mullendore, was laid to rest in the Disciples' Ceme tery. The death of Mrs Tredwell comes as a personal Itereavement to very many peo ple o. tuis town and county. For tliirty years she has resided here and during the past fifteen years she was brought in con tact with all classes of people through her engaging in the millinery business It is safe to say that all who knew her were her friends; not attracted to her through business relations, but drawn to her by her christain character, her con stant cheerfulness under all circumstan ces her tender sympathy, her herievo- lenu ami other admirable virtues. "M-dlie" Tredwell was a universal favor ite in this community, and as said before her death comes as a personal bereave ment and will be sincerely mourned at hundreds of firesides Mr. Tredwell was fifty-three years of age and was a daugher of Major Strom, oil) of the leading citizens of the State Capital. Ki.unn-I, of Pittsburg, who hail Iteen spending a week's vacation at his father's home in this place, was in the wreck aliovc Hock wood last Wednes day evening. Mr. Kimmel was sitting in the front part of the smoking car en joying a "Rock wood deiight" when the crash occurre L He was thrown from his scat, but, Itesides lieing itadly shaken up, escaped without injury. For several hours following the wreck Mr. Kimmel assisted in rescuing the bxlies of the dead engineers and mail clerks. It appears that two tramps one white and the other black, were stealing a ride on the cattle train. When the crash came the white man was thrown forward from his position on top of a car and landed uninjured on the grouiuL His companion was le fortu nate. He w as thrown amongst the dead and crippled cattle and a great pile of wreckage was piled on top of him. The cattle were wild with fright ami kept up a deafening itellowing all the w hile, 1ml ahove their angry roars the voica of the terrified d.irkey begging to be rescued could be heard. Every time one of the cattle moved its position the colored man would s"rea:n for help.
