There is no more attractive sxvtacle in sight from this planet at present than the ce lestial levis; tifat Venus is holding in the evening sky, with the assistance of Saturn and those famous brothers. Castor and Pol lux. Ijtst night they formed a square, Ve nus and Saturn hiinjt the lower pair. Ve nus is at present West of Saturn. Watch them for four or live evenings to come and you w ill see Venus slowly approach Saturii and jxiss to the cast of him. Venus is be yond all coinjinrison the brightest of the group, yet Saturn is some times as large as Venus. Put he is upward of ten times as far from the earth as Venus is. and projxT tioiiately still farther from the sun, and it is the combination of these things that makes his light so pale in comparison with hers. Both of the planets outshine their co.-nisin-iotis Castor and Pollux, and here again the element of distance points in to mislead. The fact is, if Castor and Pollux wen- as near to us as either Venus or Saturn they would turn night into day uikhi the earth, for they are suns:, and big din's. tix.
