A correspondent from Lower Turkeyfoot writes us that Sat unlay last as a young boy named Samuel Bcecby, a grand son of Mel chi Harizell, who is a famous hunter, was engaged in curling a road through the woods a huge wildcat dahed across the road in front of him. Tbe young man immediately started in pursuit aud in a short time the cat ran up a large tree. Tbe boy cut tlie tree down when a regular monkey and par rot time ensued. After having bis clothes and portions of bis skin and flesh torn from him tbe boy succeeded in killing the ani mal which measured five feet from tbe nose to the tip of the toil. It all the bills that have been introduced, become laws, we can close up the Legisla tive bills for tbe next generation to open lb em. Bills bave been introduced in the interests of every profession and cailii g, bills promoting tbe welfare of the peop.e, bills prohibiting every species and kind of marginal speculation, bills for tbe deaf, dumb and blind institutions, bills making homes for the aged and iuiinu, bills encour aging pauperism by granting appropriation for buaie lor poor aud iudigent children in moat every part of the state, bills to recon struct tbe constitution, bills to amend the Constitution, bills for high license, bills for low iiceiue. and biila prohibiting liceuse being granted, bills for schools aud bills for colleges and iu tact bills for everything that the niiud of the average statesman can think of. Petitions measuivi by the yard are puuriug iu from all over the state pray ing tor the passage of the bill introduced by Dr. Stevenson of Lawrence Co. requiring Physiology and Hygieue to be Uughl iu our public scuouls Willi special reference to the effects wt aloubuhc stimulants aud narcotics i n the system. , 1 believe bouierset county is the only Couuty that has uot sent in a pe tition praying for temperance legislation. Many valuable bills bave been introduced thus far and many that ought never to have beeu written. As au example, yesterday a rural legislator nrged the Judiciary Local Coiumiuee to report affirmatively a bill re quiring a peddler or hawker of goods to pay a license ol $o00 a month and any person caught peddling or hawking who had no license should on conviction be sentenced to imprisonment for a period not less than 5 years. Rather expensive business, when the license is $0,000 a year aud exceeeingly rougli if not paid. Now this is the nature of a number ot bills that bave been intro duced. A large number ot the new mem bers seem to want to immortalize them selves by introducing suoie bill making a sweeping change or a aigual reform. Tbey scarcely enter on the duties of their first term until they want to make themselves sure for a second term, and take this way generally of trying to do it. Several very good bills have been introduced in both Sen ate and House in relation to Public Schools and tlie course of instruction taugb in then). Among tbe bills reported favorably from Committees in the House this week were the following. For the education and maintenance of destitute orphans of soldiers sailors or marine. Prohibiting treatinc to alcoholic stimulants. Prohibiting boxing or sparring For the erection of industrial schools for the support and employment of tbe poor. A bill in relation to soldiers' dis charges, imposing penalty on those attor neys who secure possession nf a soldier's discharge and refuse to return it. Relating to the mode of selecting text books for the public schools. The senate bill awarding $.0 010 to Commissioner Thomas for pre paring exhibits of Pennsylvania at the New Orleans Exposition was killed in tbe House on Thursday morning. It looked as though it were going thnmgb until Mr. Col born showed what a steal it was, and proved by Mr. Shnemaser of Bucks (who bad written to the State Treasurer of most every State) that no other state had appropriated any money for it, as Mr. Thomas said they had, and then it was killed most effectually. T House parsed a bill abolishing the of- fice of Canal Commissioner and turning it over to the Auditor General's department. Tbe railroad lobbyists are beginiiig to sound the legislators, as the famous "anti-discrimination Act" bas been favorably . reported and it is uow thought will go through. Mr. nime a line of avtion to be punned and to plna, and then the chronic kickers from tbat city kicked until the chair vigorously sat down upon them. Mr. McCuliough was undoubtedly the best man to appoint from his delegation, as he is the ablest talker, the shrewdest worker and tbe brainiest repre sentative Philadelphia has. In the Senate scarcely anything has been done owing to the wrangle over the reform Governor's nominal iona. There was qnite I a n!it made over the appoiutment of Capt. Stone tone of Juniata, for notary public instead r. Allison, tbe present notary. Mr. Al lison is an 1. H soldier and ia recommended by the k-ading citizens, tor reliant and bankers of the place, but unfortunately for him be is a Republican. Capt Stone was a rebel soldier and fortuuatt-ly for him he is a bard-slielled Democrat hr fat the man our reform Governor wants to humiliate a Un ion soldier with despite the protestations of the loyal people of Juniata county.
