The Supreme Court of thin State has rendered several decisions of general interest ill the matter of road tax The right of farmers to w ork out their ro-vl j tax has K en generally conceded, but siier- i visors in a few tow nships insist that the tax I must be paid in rnoiiev. A test case has! 1m 1 1 decided in favor of the taxpayers, and their right to work out their tax distinctly and finally atlirined. In other cases col lectors of road tax have claimed a commis sion on the part worked out, as well as that paid into the township treasury. The Su preme Court decided that all claims for such commissions should be rejected, the work ing out of a tax imposing no labor on the supervisor, who is paid for liis services. Wittenbelo. April 11. 14. Eiutor Heeahi; The article published in last week's Meversdale Omimrrrint in re gard to the manner in which the delegate election was held iti this township, is fal-e ; from beginning to end. There was never a fairer election held. Messrs. lteal and Su-1 di-r were both sworn, and held the election strictly under the party rules. The men1 from Bedford county have been living here since before Christmas, and are legal voters in this county. No Democrat was allowed to vote. An examination of the ballot box will show that Hie vote was counted and re turned exactly es it ie cast. The barge that our election was not fairly and honest Iv held is a malicious false!nd, and does great injustice to our lli-pablican citizens. Larimer. A Mcscclar Selmon.
