At an informal meeting of the members of Somerset Lodge, Xo. 358, F. t A. M , held January 2!), 1SX5, th following Preamble and Resolutions were unanimously adopted : Whereas this Lodge has learned with regret the death of Brother Samuel W . Pearson, who died at Buckstown, Jan. 2tth. ls$3. it is eminently fitting in the Lodge to express their sympathy, at tbe loss of a brother, and as there is not one of us who does not sincerely regret his departure from among us, and who is not ready to lay upon his tomb the evergreen of our faith and hope, while we consign his mortal remain to the home appointed for all. We are consoled by the reflection that there is a Grand Lodge that's far away, not made with bands eternal, in the Heavens; Therefore be it ' UrtnitrH That this Lodge receives with profound sorrow the intelligence of the demise of nr Brother. Samuel W Pearson Krtlred, That in the death of Brother Pesrson. our community has lt a worthy citizen and an honorable man ; this Lodge an efficient and useful member, and the Masonic fraternity, a hrther, whose exam ple was fnll of instruction and worfhv of imitation. Kr$nhni. That .while the Masonic career of our departed brother was eminently con sistent, his conduct as a man was no less praiseworthy and acceptable, having in all bis civil and social relations conscientious ly discharged his duty. Retnhed, That in tbe dispensation of Providence we see tbe admonition which is ever recunng, and we deeply svmpatbiz with those who are near and dear to the deceased, in their sad bereavement. Let us profit by the lesson which it so solemnly teaches, and so order our temporal affairs, tbat when the time cometh. we may be ready for tbe great change.
