His doath justifies the use of the stereotyped expression "another old land mark gone." Mr. Woy had not yet reached the Scrtptur al allotment in years ot three sc ire and ten, yet since nearly forty years ago until bis last and only illness be was prominent in his labors ol love and deeds of charity. He enjoyed the best of health until tne last year of his life, since which time he has been rather trail and he looked for ward to a speedy end. Jonathan Woy was born in 1822. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Boyer at tbe age ot 20. Uo was the lather ot one son and three daughters, all of whom survive him. .lie never punished bis children and brought up bis family with out tbe rod. After his marriage be enter ed the employ of Mr. Jacob Walker, for sixty dollars a year and board. During the year Mr. Woy earned sufficient to pay all family expenses and the whole amount of bis labor was saved the first year. With such a start in life, tbe success that follow ed was the natural result of econemy and industry. About HO years ago the Lutherans and Relbrmed, the former ot which he was a member, in Stonycreek, through the la bors of tbeir ministers, adopted in prac tice the Methodist manner ot worship, and as it accorded with Mr. Woy's views, he entered earnestly and zealously into tbe work of bringing sinners to Christ through convertiun and by obtaining an evidence of pardon. He at all times labored earn estly in all the works of tbe church and devoted much time to the Sunday school and prayer meeting. As his church grad ually drifted back to tbe form of worship as practiced by the Lutheran church, Mr Woy found it more to bis views to wor ship with tbe Brethren and tor tbe last few years he labored and worshiped with them. In all his labors, at all times, while a man with strong and positive convictions be treated all with the broadest charity and his only desire was tofenlarge the fold ot Christ and to save the young from the vices of earth. Ilis walk aud conversation with his faith and profession made him an exemplary and an honorable citizen, possessed of fine social and mental qualities devoted lo his own domestic circle, in his death, there departed to that "mysterious coun try," a gentleman ol the old school whose death is deeply deplored in tbe communi ty in which a busy life w.a spent.
