In Lower Vinler Townshty, on Friday last, an aed lady and a L'eiitlemau, like wise well up in years, into a little theological dispute lit the old gentleman's son's house, the latter ln-in? married to a daughter of the old lady alluded to. The discussion terminated in a muscular coin hat on the highway, several children of the resjKflive principals hearing a hand, while a niimlier of dogs, a flock of geese, and the children in an adjoining school room looked on with admiring interest. The hair pulling culminated in the old treutleuian and old lady starting oil' to hunt law, hut it is presumed that they thought la tter of it, as we have not learned that any informations were lodged. Tin: ainbiton of too many voting men leads them to seek situations as clerks, under the supposed "rcsiicctability" ot the calling. as compareil w ith that ol a mechanic, hut il can scarcely compensate any one for the lo-s of such opportunities for advancement in life as are open to all industrious skilled mechanics. A correspondent of a New- York paper, writing on the subject of "Trades tor Uovs," uives his own cxiieri- enee iu reply to the complaint of a clerk, ho receives only iflz per Week, and has a wile ami lamny to supiiori. lie says; "At 1(5 i entered a printing ollice and wor ked through the various grades to journey man : at il I had saved 1,(KK out of my wagis, and, w ith a fellow-workman, w ith a similai amount, started business. The i'hilabclphia Letljr in reply re- laarus : "I here is nothing remarlailile m this experience, except that too few ol the young men of to-day can jioint to such a record. The path is oK'ii lonll ; but few have the resolution and patience re-.juired to trad in it. Two t ears ago, on Saturday last, lite iiik iast., at about three o'clock in the af ternoon, a slight wind blowing, and the sky s uaew lull ( loaded, a cry of fire was heard in our (juiet tow n, that sent a chill to the hearts of our people, (but w ith noth ing like the horror with which the same cry now startles the hearers,) and in the brief space of two hours, our beautiful town was a waste of ashes and a scene of desolation. A full account of which was given in liie ih.u.vi.ii of June oth follow ing. Il is the purpose of the preseut article to note the changes that have taken place since. From the time of the fire until May Oth 17:!, the follow ing buildings were put up: The Mammoth Ulock, three shanties on Col llugtis' lot, a board house on Major Stutiiiiin's lot. A. II. Since the tlth of May lSTa, J. II. Pisel has built a handsome three story house on the "Hiiichinan lot." The basement is to be used tor an lystcr sal. urn.
