Fisher was committed to cur county jail by the constable of Jackson town chip. 11c was charged, on oath of Daniel Kiehl, of that towtitbip, with having, on that day, set firo to 1'ibbarn. The (ire was kindled on the barn floor, bbout 6 o'clock in the morning, and was immediate ly discovered and extinguished. The prisoner was seen lurking near tho dwelling house of Mr. Kiehl, evidently with tho intention of robbing it, and no doubt fired the barn in order to divert the attention of the family so that he could commit the robbery without being detected. r'UHiKN pKAtn. On Wednesday night lest, about 10 o'clock, Mr. Rouben Kortz, traveling agent fur the Ci rover & Baker Sewing Machiuo Co., was found in a dying condition, in the guitar in frout of Moore It Dissingcr's store, in Market street. Several persons happening to puss at the time observed him, and car ried him to the Central Hotel, where he soon after expired. An inquest was held by Coroner Qeasy, and a verdict rendered thai he died of disease of the heart. His body was placed In a ooffin and left on the midnight train, in charge of Coronor Ueasy, for Uaston, Northampton county, where bis family re sides. The deceased was about 40 years of age, and was well known to many of our citizens. New BrlLinJics. Wm. H. Miller has commenced the erection of a frame building, on his lot on Third ttreet, adjoining Fox's tobacco store. On the opposite side of tho street William Young intends putting up a frame building, in which he Work on will keep a grocery and provision store the foundation bos already been commenced. We learn that James Vandyke designs enlarging his building on the corner, now occupied by his sa loon, by raising it to three stories, and also extend ing it twenty feet towards Market Square.
