The fire was started at 8 J o'clock, A. M., nml
kept up until four cords of green hickory, two
cords dry ak and half chesnut tup wood were
entirely consumed, the whole under liie Dtiperiti
lendence of llie subscribers, members of the Com
mittec. 2'he Safes were then cooled otf with
water, after which they were opened, and t'.ie
books and papers taken out by tho Committee
and sent to II. A. Lantz a storo for public exam
inert and marked by the Committee. The books
and papers taken from '.ho Safe manufactured

damaged fully fifteen per cent, moro than those
