The water continued rushing throuah the upper crevasse, und although six- hundred men are at work endeavoiing to block up the :gap, the prospect is very discouraging. The Picayune ay that three hundred imen, armed to the teeth, were stationed al the new canal, to prevent the residents of the Second Municipally from making further breaches on the embankment, in order to di vert the course of tho torrent. A row is ap prehended. The crevasse below the city, at the Eng lish Turn, also threatens to overflow the Third Municipality. Three hundred men are stationed there, nnd are doing their ut most to prevent the threatened evil. AEOTRICTIVE FIRE IN MILWAtKIE LOSS PGO.OOO. Milwaukie, May 176 P. M. A fire broke out this morning, between 3 and 4 o'clock, in the building occupied by W. Ilaukin as a planing and stave manufac tory, and from the combustible nature of the material on the premises, the building, to gether wi'h the store of David Moore and the livery stable of S Davis, was consumed before the engine reached the ground. The fire is supposed to have been the work of an incendiary. The total loss is between 550.000 and $60,000. PMa. Ledger. Womm IK THE Amt Fighting. The late German paper say that the Hungarian ladies are fighting with the same enthusiasm for freedom a their countrymen. Among one hundred and forty Hungarian captive taken by General Simbnish, there were titnefrm Hungarian ladies, with musket in their hands, and dressed in military uniform. A countess of the highest rank, hn raised a re giment at her own expense, nnd her sister is the commander of thi rejjiment. With such enthusiasm it is not surpiising that the Austrian have fared o badly. RIGHT. OF AUDIENCE. It wa decided by Chief Justice Mansfield, in 1811, in the case of ClilTord v B andoti, for disorders in Covent Garden Threatre. that any co-operation, even of the least violent nature, in a deliberate and premeditated tu mult at the theatre, i a breach of the peace and is punishable by law. His language is a follow : "The audience have certainly a nsht to eipress by applause or hisses the sensations which naturally present themselve at the moment ; and nobody has ever hindered, or would ever nuestion, the exercise of lhat rich! But if anybody of men were to goto the theatre with the nettled intention of hissing anaetor, or even of damning a piece, there ' ran btt no doubt lhat such a deliberate and and preconcerted scheme would amount to a conspiracy, and that the person concerned in it might be brought to punishment. It is not necessary, to constitute thiscrime, that personal violence should have been commit ted or lhat a bouse should have been pulled in pieces." HAIL TOR CALIFORNIA. The V.
