J J M 'V' . . ;: i. "j i J 3 If n 5; i i ' f I - i ';t - r . f 3 "i fi w To the Farmers of Pennsylvania. - Hon. George Scott, President of the Pennsylvania" State Agricultural Society, has issued the following circular to the partners of Pennsylvania, to which we di rect the attention of our farmer readers. The Pennsylvania State Agricultural So eicty at its meeting in January last resolved to call the attention of the agriculturists ol this stnte to the v;:st importance ot a pro per display of that industry at the eenten iiinl exhibition which commences in Phila deli'hia on the tenth day of May next and is to continue sis tnontns. Great efibrts have been made on th part of the managers to bring into a com luned exhibit a complete display of the pro ducts of the soil of Pennsylvania so that eonm-ii ion may be had of our modes of til laire with those neighboring state and foreign countries No expenditure of money can bring this about; no intelligence or activity of manaireiiient ; omy thorough, earnest literal contributions from the producer himself, can make this portion of the exhibi tion worthy of thi profound attention which it should receive. It is the advantage of fered to us as farmers and citizens to sus tain the honor of the state in peacefu rivalry with the great industries of tin world. Our endeavor should be to exc( them all. It is impossible, in a circular, to go over the whole of this subject. Our society has " taken such action as it was thought becom iiv it should take on behalf of the interests of the National Exposition in onmntting its own exhibition for 187(5, and by the oiie; of a lame sum to such objects of merit as may deserve reward. In view, therefore f the action of this society, and in comp'.i :mce with the resolutions to which notice has been called, we respectfully ask that the vari his county societies throughou the state who have not yet perfected ar ranpemciits for holding fairs this year will follow the example ot our society and post pone the same until J5w t. We tind it impossible to state in detail the regulations to be observed in making entires on the part of societies orindixid u.ds, but it wi'.l afford the president of the tate society, who is one of the state com missioners, great gratification to rej ly to any application fr information thai. m. y le made to iim lV letters audressco; o T.tttavisa.
